I've got just under 6k on mine and my biggest issue is coming from a long bed (8 foot) 4 door 3500 ram, I run out of room in the back pretty quick. That said I knew I was buying a small truck so I totally blame toyota corporate for this issue. Lol

Been a good running little truck. Had my trans checked at 5k. Service writer went ahead and had them check the transfer case also. Greased the joint and checked the u bolts. Everything checked good. Mpgs are around 20. Sadly about the same as my ram, but if I wanted high mpgs I would have bought a prius....

As far as being underpowered, my wife borrowed my truck this weekend. She was impressed. Said it would get and shit. Said she wished her 4runner (14 trail edition) had that much power.

All and all I'm pretty happy. Shame all that you read about is people having issues. I'm about to try her towing. I've gotta move my old fat girl cutlass out of my garage. We should be right at or just below its max towing. So I'm curious how she does.

Anyway. Yall have a great week, go drive the doors off of them.

I'll sit back and do wait on all the trolls to start talking crap.

I haven't found a new Tacoma yet that didn't have a few of these issues ,
I'm wondering if the ones without issues are being driven by the guys that can drive something with a worn out ball joint and be oblivious to the sounds?
Or the ones who can drive down the road with the door partially open
    Lol

Not likely. Im wondering if the people with all these problems arent just whiners obsessing on something and wont be happy with any truck they have.
There is a reason Toyota can ask top dollar and sell their trucks almost as fast as they can make them.

I can't speak for the others, but I'm very very particular about all of my cars. I'm consistently horrified by other drivers who can drive a car that shakes like a washing machine on the freeway and be thoroughly uninterested in getting it checked out.

Though to be fair I do need to make a warranty claim already- one of my license plate lights (not taillight) is filled with water. Still lights up, but obviously that shouldn't be in there. Guessing a seal shat the bed from the factory. That one I'll give a pass on because shit happens, and it's about as minor of an issue you can get.

Nothing fancy, yet. Weathertech mats front/back + their mud guards, some reflective striping and custom carpets on the storage bin lids underneath the jump seats.
Other than the ATF level being 3/4 qt. low (corrected at just under 800 miles) and the U-bolts on the leaf springs in need of re-torqueing, my Texas built, V6, 2wd 16' Access cab hasn't had any odd noises, vibrations or other stuff going on. I have a lengthy motorcycle background where you pay attention to everything because a little something different won't just leave you stranded, it can get you dead in a hurry.
I just cleared out the economy history and it'd averaged 23mpg and change over all so far.
That was with a mix of about 25% highway and the rest small town driving.

I've had my MGM Sport access cab auto 2x4 for about 6 weeks and now have ~1100 miles on it. Prior to it I drove a grey '89 Toyota 4x4 with a little lift that I bought in '94. Drove that truck for 22 years until it starting having some mechanical issues that I did not want to deal with. I loved that truck.

I love the new truck too but I have to be honest and say it has taken some major adjustment for me.

The new truck is really comfortable and quiet. I don't hear any of the air howl that some people have at highway speeds. The enhanced JBL stereo system sounds awesome. All the new tech with the nav, keyless entry, touch screen is great. The city mileage is about the same as my old truck, while the highway mileage is better - 22 or 23. The power and acceleration is a big step up from my old 4-cylinder but I agree with the posters who wish for a smoother transmission response. Once I discovered the ECT button that really helped a lot, and so far the difference in mileage is negligible. I like it. All the advancement in bed rails, tie-downs and storage is great. I like the stock Sport wheels too. Sure, there are plenty of terrific looking aftermarket rims and tires, but the stock equipment is a great initial offering.

I have had a hard time adjusting to the larger size. I really wish Toyota still had the small truck market but that is no longer reality. I also don't like the scooped hood and huge chrome front grill that sits forward about eight inches too far. As I understand it the extra spacing is for the newly required pedestrian crumple zone. Thanks to an excellent thread on repainting the grill I'll be soon fixing the huge chrome issue. I've considered swapping my scooped hood for a non-scooped but have serious concerns from reading about the non-scooped flexing at high speeds. My scooped hood doesn't move at all. I also have no body or transmission shake or vibration at any speeds.

So really my only issues with my new truck are cosmetic. I can't change the size, but I could choose to work on the other issues which are just personal preference.

Mechanically, my new truck is been great. I've only been driving it for a short while, and mostly in town, but I have not experienced any of the negative issues I read about here on the forum.

    Cheers!

Lol ok not meaning to offend anyone I was just meaning that some people tend to overlook minor issues that drive others crazy .
I'm sure there are some trucks that live up to the Toyota name I just haven't found any since the '16 came out lol

This might have picked up by someone else already, but I had the same problem and have a possible fix.

Are you running your music over Bluetooth? If so, make sure the volume on the source isn't turned way down (i.e., your phone's volume if you're streaming it from your phone like I was).

I was streaming Pandora off of my phone and it sounded like total ass 'cause my phone's volume was turned way down, now that I'm using the Entune app on the head unit itself it sounds WAY better.

Most posts are whining, it's either they're not getting enough mpg, truck can't hold 85 in cruise up a mountain, tranny fluid is 1/4 qrt low out of 11 qrts. Then there's some of you who have REAL problems. It gets hard to differentiate the whiners from the people with real problems. Btw :brianr:

I don't doubt that Smitty99 has the same issues as I do , I just haven't been on here long enough to piss everyone off yet lol .
My 2010 rubicon with a 6 speed and 37" tires would go over a long 6% grade with the cruise set at 85 in 4 th gear with no problem
My dads identical jeep with an automatic struggles to do the same hill at 70.

And honestly my current '16 Tacoma reminds me of my dads jeep daily
It feels like I'm having to push it to maintain speed .
I would feel completely different about my truck if it had the 4.0 and 5speed auto from the 4Runner and not this wanna be hybrid crap motor, that needs an electric motor to compensate for no low end torque .

I had minor issues the first few weeks but now it's been problem free the past month or two. I love my 2016.

I've driven the 4runners and they are a night and day difference drive ability and power wise. The 4 runner actually has enough low end torque to break the tires loose , where the 3.5 has built in traction control i.e. No torque lol
