Alright ladies I've gotta punch out for a few months to go do gods work. See y'all later in summer when I get the burrito back together a bit more. Stay classy.

I agree... Night and day difference between a 6.0L gas in a Chevy 2500 and a 6.6L duramax of the same year. Makes towing feel effortless.

But is the 6.0 turbo'd? Otherwise it's not really a good comparison considering the diesel is over half a litre larger in displacement and turbo'd

Nope, I don't really consider it a good comparison myself because no manufacturer offers a V8 turbo truck from the factory. I'm just agreeing that given the option, I'd pay the extra $10k (25% more on a 40k truck) to get into a diesel if I were to use it for towing. My personal opinion, and I'm sure a 6.4L Hemi does just fine for a single rig setup.

For the last 4 years my family has been using a 2006 Chevy 2500 Duramax for our towing needs. It's also my father's daily driver. I have no doubt that a 6.0L in the same series and year of truck COULD do this... but simple things like passing vehicles, maintaining speed on inclines, merging onto the highway, those would be very difficult with this setup. I recognize though, this isn't indicative of most people's needs

For what it's worth, this weighed in at like 22,000 lbs total with us in the cab, full gear and fuel. 4,500lbs on the front axle of the truck, 5,500 on the rear and the rest on the trailer axles. We were within trailer weight limits, all axle limits and just 300 lbs over GVWR, but within GCVWR.... Distributing the weight slightly back would have put us within vehicle limits.

Sorry OP, don't want to derail your build thread too much. Really jealous of the new Power Wagon. I'm sure it'll be a great tow rig for the Burrito.

So OP is on his second tow rig and Burrito hasn't left the garage yet. Does he even own a trailer?
