Curious how many others on here are really into bikes. I have a few in my stable. I love mountain biking but just recently picked up a CX/gravel bike and am having a blast on it!
I built a cool bike rack the other night and plan on building another one on the other side of the garage for my mountain bikes.

    Main bikes as of now:
2013 Specialized Rockhopper 29er - Mnt. - lots of upgraded parts
    2016 Specialized Crux - CX/gravel
    2006 Trek 1000SL - Road

I have a few others that I can't seem to get rid of as well

Ya man I keep telling myself I'm getting back into it. It's been years since I've rode seriously so my Cannondale F600 is in decent shape but, not the modern composite & or 29er. I used to put about 5k miles a year on a bike.

I've been wanting to get in to mountain biking recently. Idk where to begin, any pointers on picking out a bike for a noob? There are plenty of places to ride around where I am, I just don't know what to look for in a bike, or what gear to wear.

    Agree 100% with above.

I ride/rode with clipless so I can use both legs. And just don't on the WallyWorld or similar bike...go decent used. Used may be a few bucks more than a walmart special but, there's a huge difference in quality of bikes.

It's all about what you couldn't have as a kid and now as an adult it's all possible... And really expensive!

I hate those, I rode with them once in yosemite on my cousins specialized, took a corner that had some loose sand on blacktop and I was over on my side, didn't have the muscle memory to unclip in time.

Of course I'm sure I would like them if I used them all the time but I don't like being restricted.

I ride a Giant full suspension Bike.

    Wait for it...
I got back into mountain biking over a year ago & the thrill still feels fresh. I still have my 26" hardtail Giant as a spare for visitors but I ride a 650b Scott Genius (username!). I actually just came out of the garage from checking it over for Critical Mass tomorrow. Anyone else ride Critical Mass? Attaching a pic from a recent trip to North Carolina aka Bikes & Beer Bliss.

I'm a huge bicycle fan and collector, usually metal dumpster diving or recycle bldg. at my local transfer (dump) station.
My best pick was a 1964 Schwinn American with the bendix kickback 2 speed.
I mostly fix them up to sell or donate to friends. Old iron or hipster vintage.
Was given an old Haro BMX that scored me $200 bucks!
Not like an 84 or anything more a retro knock off still $200 is $200!
My friends know I collect so look out for me :)
I try to find them free or less than $50 unless it is really, really something cool.
Keep a couple of interesting ones here and there.
Also find lots of old hard tail mountain bikes, Diamond Back, Specialized and Trek.
Thankfully, I have an empty basement that makes a great shop.

I got into mountain biking early last year as a way to lose weight and get out more. Broke my radius bone in half on a small jump (took it with too much speed and went off trail) so I couldn't ride for about five months. Started riding again the beginning of this year and have been going strong since. Started at 257lbs and down to 215 as of this morning. I currently ride a 2015 Diamondback Mason FS but I am actually going to go buy a new 2016 Kona Process 153DL later this afternoon. Gonna have the bike shop swap my Hope hubs, Saint brakes, better hoops and tires and possibly a better rear shock on the bike first though.

Anybody looking into getting into riding, I seriously suggest finding your local bike shop and demo-ing any bike you like. Get a feel for the frame sizes as they are not the same for all brands and the geometry of the bikes make them handle all different. If your local bike shop is like mine, every time you demo a bike, that cost goes towards the purchase of your next bike.
