2016 Baja 500 Map

What I see different is the elimination of running along the Pacific Coast, which was a popular area to watch and run as the weather is ideal. Half of the miles of this race is down in the desert, and in June is easily over 100ºF. The high country, other half, is not much cooler in June, either!

 

if i go mainly will be going to get a tshirt and some beers. going to san felipe would be cool. still working out the details and accomodations

 

Better figure on camping... all rooms are generally booked during the race.

I camped at Pete's Camp for this race in San Felipe. Holy crap it was hot. One of the motorcyclists died on the course due to heat only 2 miles from my pit spotting station. It was over 110' and I heard it was over 120' even more inland from San Felipe. BRUTAL.

 

It was so hot that I set up the canopy in this fashion to help keep us cool in the AC.

 

that sucks.

The tide really goes out in the northern Gulf of California... over mile sometimes... and in a few hours all that will be underwater, 20 ft. +
