Hello everyone! I just acquired a Tacoma from my father in law who recently pasted away. It is a very sentimental truck for my wife who loved riding in i5 with her dad which is why I am working so hard to get it going. Unfortunately someone had taken advantage of him and took off with tranny, transfer case, clutch and who knows what else. So far I have been able to acquire clutch parts, and transfer case, transmission, and I am working feverishly at this time to get this truck back on the road. My question is this the only transfer case I could find was from a 6 cylinder from same year (1997) but this one is a 4 cylinder 2.4 liter. The transfer case bolted on just fine but I suspect there could be an issue with electrical aspects. Can anyone give me some insights or pointers. All will be greatly appreciated. I took the liberty of replacing pilot bearings and changing all the fluids thus far as truck sat in his garage for over a year in a disassembled drive train state. I also need to ask how the rear end plate between engine and transmission ( 5 speed manual) seals or does it. I had to order the three parts that make up the plates that mount onto engine to cover flywheel and bolt to tranny. Found this out while trying to reinstall a used tranny and transfer case I was able to find. For anyone who has had to put some vehicle back together someone else has left in pieces you can understand my pain. I also have the repair manual for the truck which helps greatly but some info such as my question about transfer case can only be answered by insider know how which at present I do not possess. Thanks again for all your help for anyone who answers and i am sure as I continue to piece this back together I will have further questions and issues to overcome with everyone's help. Will post pics when finished!
