So I picked up one of these units.

    http://www.***************/pumpkin-...s-navigation-system-support-3g-wifi-obd2.html

The install was straight forward. All the wires I needed to connect where colour coded. So far I am impressed. I am still playing with it and see the odd limitation but nothing serious. I'll write up something more after I use for awhile. It's great I can run Spotify or any app for that matter. I may get a 3G sim card for it.

Liking it so far? Looking at a non android version. Seems to be really customizable for the cost.

Just a bunch of old crap
Interesting. Does it have offline GPS built in so you could nav with it like with the Backcountry Navigator app?

    *edit

I looked into it, and at least the newest model does have GPS built in. That's pretty cool.

No option for Sirius but I could still use the app if I want, and for me could use on the move with 3G. But even with wifi, you could download content on demand.

Speaking of which, I got a 3G USB dongle and a 3GB data plan simcard and instant 3G on the unit. I found a speedo widget to see how fast I am actually going compared to my speedo as I have bigger tires. I know it's off by 7% anyway but you sort of put the difference out of your mind when driving.

The smaller weather widget is my personal weather station at my house, the larger one uses GPS to find the nearest official weather station.

The only problem I have with it is sometimes the volume knob is unresponsive and I can't adjust the volume. I have to swipe down and access the volume adjuster from there.

    Very cool!

Can you use your own launcher with it? Something like Nova or another? I wonder if there's a 4G LTE dongle that would work. Would be WAY faster! :D

I haven't tried another launcher. The one that is installed on it is good for an auto interface. I have Nova on my S6 Edge and not sure how well that would work with the Pumpkin unit when using it while driving.

It would have been easier for me to get a 4G/LTE dongle but many of these units (it may be all of them) don't support 4G/LTE. I've been playing YouTube etc and no issue with speed. This is the dongle I bought for the sim card

Would you buy it again? Any thoughts after a few months of using it? I'm shopping around and could use a review.
