Installed the seatbelt extension and problem solved.....no chime when I want it gone. Btw, never roll on asphalt w/o being buckled up.

I went with the spring removal today after seeing this post. A small flat tip and a pair of needle nose pliers to snake out the spring and all done. No warning lights, no beeps. Probably only took two minutes to pull the sensor out and have the spring removed. Real trick is getting the sensor housing to snap back into place. You just have to be patient and wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle until you get there.

Going to the dealer is not a great idea as disconnecting the battery resets the controller to factory settings; meaning you have to go back to the dealer after every battery disconnect.

Install an amp or stereo... back to the dealer. Change battery...back to the dealer. You get the idea.

A more permanent solution is to locate the wires going into the seat belt then tie them together. This will trick the controller into thinking the belt is plugged in. I did this on my 4Runner and am about to do the same to my 2012 Taco as the buzzer is annoying as hell.

Not true. I've changed the battery twice on my 2012 and the seat belt chime has never come back.

seat belt chime is very inconvenient for people on ranches who have to get in and out of vehicle a lot. Dealer would not disable mine even though it says it is a custom feature in the owners manual.

I got my turned off at the dealership, just told em I ride with my dogs a whole bunch and they said no problem. Easiest way to do it is to get a tuner and turn it off

Yeah I knew the dealership could but is there any other way too? My 2010 you had to follow a step by step process that worked well

Had the dealer turn mine off as condition of sale. Have disconnected the battery twice since and warning chime is still off - 2015 Sport

I'm not near a dealer, so I went with the spring removal route, as described on page 3 of this post. It was easy, quick to do, and it works! For my Taco 2012

With the spring removal technique, be aware that if you do remove the spring on the passenger side, it disables the airbag for the passenger. The 'airbag off' indicator light stays on. I did not find a workaround for that, so I just put the spring back on the passenger side. It was a lot harder putting it back compared to taking it out!
