2012 front of bell housing exposed...normal?

    2.5" lift, 265/75r16 Cooper AT3, All Pro Front Skid, KBVoodoo bed rack, a bunch of other random stuff
    Truck: 2012 SR5, 2.7l, 4x4, 4 speed auto

    I was tracking down an issue with a leaking drain plug (cross threaded) and noticed that my bell housing is exposed. Is this normal? Doesn't seem right to me.

    Note: My transmission was replaced about a year ago by Toyota. I haven't had any issues.

    I'm cross posting this in the general 2nd gen section as well.

    Nope there should be a cover there for sure!!! I would take it back to Toyota like asap!

    Fat Bobs 2.75 lift and level with short AAL, 16x8 Level 8 Guardian Wheels, 245/75R16 Toyo Open Country ATII, custom trans shift kit(home made), Trans temp. and Vac gauge, URD fuel pump upgrade(going back to stock soon).
    My base model has been like that since the factory.

    Can't say if it's normal or not for an auto Tacoma, but it seems like a really bad idea! Especially if you venture offroad.

    It's not normal. They forgot to put the plate back on. Go back to them and have them put it back on. All will be well.
