New to the Party, Always in the Game [Wilco Offroad aka Tiregate]

It's Erik here from Wilco Offroad aka Tiregate. I'm just one of the guys on our team. I'm also really tall and enjoy Thai food. I spend more than I make and enjoy burning fuel and rubber of all kinds and combinations.

First things first, a lot of guys know about Tiregate, not as many are familiar with Wilco Offroad. What's up with that?

Long story short in words, since 2005 our legal company name has always been Wilco Automotive Products...our DBA was Tiregate. Over the years, we expanded to much more than the Tiregate and it became important to have that make sense to a broader market so Wilco rebranded as its company name and the DBA was changed to Wilco Offroad.

In fact, old product would be labeled, "Tiregate by Wilco" up until about a year ago. Most people though, only knew us as Tiregate, so the change over to Wilco Offroad has been confusing to some.

Nothing is new in the idea that no one is out of business, there's no hostile take over, Tiregate has always been Wilco and Wilco always Tiregate. Same welders, same engineer, same owner, same equipment, same questionable water cooler in the corner.

Now that we've covered, that, we manufacture here in Southern California shop in Orange County and source almost 100% of our material in the US as well. We bend the tubes here, weld them here, laser them, press brake them HERE. Powder coat however, goes down the street 2 miles.

This is not a humble brag, just a regular brag I guess, our products have been in the field with the Navy Seals, down range with the Army, been all over oil fields up north, down the tip of Baja, launched boats in the Atlantic daily, towed a KLR650 to the trailhead (don't tell anyone!!!) and beyond.

Our shop is AS9100 rated. Our guys are super talented and make stuff for the most brutal conditions.

But we're also guys who like to get out there and get lost too...have fun in the dirt...or maybe even crawl the mall! Looking forward to getting to know you guys!

Really happy with the Tiregate. Excellent alternative to a full swing-out bumper

 

Probably one of the first mid-sized VT with the Hi-Lift Jack bushings in existence...if not one of about 3. Looks great!

 

Erik @ewxlt66 do you have any pics of the VT on a 1st Gen Tacoma? I am really digging this thing....since I already have an AllPro rear bumper this would be a great way to achieve a full swingout! Awesome looking product

 

Sorry about the delay. I don't have any pics on a first gen. Only 2nd and beyond. What year is yours?

@ewxlt66 is there at least a diagram/instructions that shows the mounting of the VT on a 1st gen, I'm extremely interested and I understand this is a forum and not a customer service center...but you have an interested buyer here....well that is if shipping isn't astronomical

Installs the same as all the others.

 

Cool, any pictures of how it secures to all the others? I want to make sure it will work for my set up before I burn close to 1k

Thanks for the pics they look cool, but I'm trying to see how they actually secure to the bed. The mounting points to the truck bed.

 

They use the same mounting points your OE tailgate does.
