Sorry to hear, I got a crack from something in the freeway month 2, it hit the very bottom and at first was only a impact crater but a week later it went vertical all the way up, 500 deductible got me a new one.

I have two rock chips on my windshield already. The glass on these things seems super soft compared to previous cars i've owned.

Do you not drive on the freeway? Are there not semi trucks where you live? Have you ever driven on a dirt road with oncoming traffic? These are things you have no control over, but you're trying to tell us that your driving habits are so much better than ours. Get over yourself.
Where I live the semis go as fast or faster than I do, there are gravel plants and gravel trucks all around, there are construction vehicles and people who drive on dirt roads, all of these cause broken windshields.
All your post tells me is that you've driven very few miles in these conditions.

I've had my share of replaced windshields due to flying rocks. And Id say its 50/50; traffic I'm behind, and traffic traveling opposite direction.
My 02, which I owned for 13 years, I did 3. Prelude had 1. FJ40 took a rock dead center low in 1970, and that glass is still in the truck.

Here in SC, by law, windshields MUST be replaced with no penalty through insurance.
