I'm curious if anyone here has suppressed their Ruger MKIII. I'm looking into buying/building one.

My big deal is that I'm going to get a suppressor for it. My preferred model is the Hunter. ADCO can thread the barrel for $150ish or I could get TacSol's Pac-lite, which comes pre-threaded.

Anyone gone either route? Does the Pac-lite shoot better than the Hunter barrel? I'm thinking the Pac-lite would be the simplest solution and not much more expensive. I wouldn't have to deal with overnight shipping and going through FFL's to do the back and forth to ADCO. Although I would have to buy internals for it. I finally find a place that sells complete trigger frames, so if I went the Pac-lite route I would buy all the parts instead of buying a complete gun to modify.

    Thanks in advance.

I just ordered a Griffin checkmate and am looking at the M&P 22 compact or a 22/45 lite as a host.

    I will, eventually....
Probably gonna get the M&P first and in a few months get the 22/45 and put a Micro red dot on it for fun.

@Bobert14 I would personally go with the pac-lite option.

I have yet to hear any good reports on the M&P that it is very picky on ammo....Still a fine gun and the mags are 30/35 bucks vs 22 for the Ruger

The compact or full size? The full size is made by walther in Germany and not very quality from what I hear, the compact is made by S&W in the U.S. And I haven't heard of many issues (the biggest being the thread adapter is on to tight from the factory).

The compact just is picky on ammo like sub sonic with that long lead 60 gr bullet

Ive got a 22/45 and its fun to shoot. I paired it with a Silencerco Spectre II years ago when that was the best 22 can out there. The MKIII and 22/45 lines are great little guns. Tons of accessories. If you pick up either the MKIII or 22/45 I would recommend the Volquartzen Accurizing kit. Or at least the trigger. I have mine adjusted to maybe 1/16th inch pretravel and a nice ~2.5lb trigger pull.

I was lucky and got one that worked like it should. Doesnt care what ammo you shoot through it (with the right spring) and hasnt had any failures. But i dont shoot it much any more and only got it as a "stepping stone" for friends and girlfriends before moving up to the Sig 226/227

I intentionally shoot cheap ammo through my M&P 9c and my dads full size M&P 9. I've never had a jam and neither has he. My theory is that if it can't shoot cheap ammo, I won't trust my life with it and I'll go trade it in.

Im more in the camp of if the gun has a single flaw with 250 rounds of the ammo i plan to carry, I wont trust that ammo. If it hiccups i on tula steel i could care less as long as its flawless with whatever hollow point im carrying :)

People call me crazy for firing 100s of rounds of cheap steel casings from Academy in my Colt M4 lol. You have a fair point though. I like shooting cheap ammo because it doesn't hurt my wallet as much when we're just having fun. Sighting in deer rifles is another story though

I shoot as cheap as i can so i hear ya on the cheap ammo. A gun i carry though...i only carry about the ammo im carrying. But my 45-70, 223, 308, ect....it gets as cheap as i can go lol. Thankfully i reload which helps a lot!

I just purchased my first silencer for my AR on Saturday and now I wait and wait. I wanted to beat the July 13th deadline for pictures and prints. I used Silencer Shop and it was smooth and easy to upload my NFA trust. Someday I'd like to get a MKIII and suppress it. Nice gun.
