Presently have a a 2013 4runner and looking into new tacoma. Besides the billstein shocks, are there any other suspension differences between sport and reg model? Not crazy about graphics and hood scoop but would like a better ride
    Thanks

Sport has Hitachi shocks, not Bilsteins.

If you do get the sr5 model and not the trd, you can always upgrade to the 5100s it's the cheapest way and better ride quality than stock

You need to drive all 3 models. I found myself liking the ride of the offroad compared to the stiffer sport and standard models. Brand of the shock is irrelevant if you don't like the ride.

Also 16" vs 17" tire offers a different ride as well. I like more tire on a truck, another reason I got a OR compared to the sport. The base comes with 16s.

i have a 2016 trd sport and i drive my brother's 16 trd off road on the weekends.. plus... i took my trd sport on a 7 day road trip as well.. now i am very sure that i need to upgrade to atleast the bilstein 5100s..

so if you are looking to buy and not do much with the truck, get a trd offroad.
if you get an sr5 or a sport and dont mind spending a few hundred on the bilstein upgrade, then go for it.

I would echo this after driving both. Also, the Off Road was also a better value for the same money IMO.

The sport is a stiffer ride, but will corner and handle better. The OR is softer and less jolty off-road and over bumps, but you will lean somewhat around corners. Stock I can't say, but probably is softer than the sport. Most people seem to prefer the softer ride and don't care so much about handling as it is a truck after all, not a sports car.

You will have to test drive all models and see what fits you best. I prefer the sport, but I also ride a motorcycle any day its not raining. I like to hug the road in the corners and the sport gives a good feel around those bends, just ask the poor salesman who rode with me. I took an OR around the same corners with the same guy and I just didn't like the lean of the truck in the turn and felt like I had to slow down more.

Yeah I was disappointed my new Sport didn't have Bilsteins anymore, but it rides better than my '11 Sport.

The Offroad may still have the thinner swaybar too.
