A lot of hoods have this severe vibration and i was never told or heard of it being "normal behavior" i was also provided a loaner and wasn't an inconvenience to me at all i am way happy with results hood looks better than from factory paint job.

I used a caulk gun to squirt the seam sealer in every location that was loose. An hour later I painted over the visible ones with touch-up paint. On my truck, most of the vibration was toward the front in the area of a horizontal cross-bar. All those tacks from the factory were loose along with several others. The acid test - I took it out on the highway up to 75 mph and no more vibration :bananadance:. I got the sealer at O'Reilly's but you can order it on the internet for a few bucks cheaper. It's a shame that I only used about 1" of the tube contents but the problem's resolved.

Did you get your squeaky creeking suspension fixed. Mine did it a couple of days back in April and went away. It came back with a vengeance a couple of days ago. I am at 4700 miles. Narrowed it down to the area of the passenger side front upper control arm bushing. And it sounds like a 35 year old truck with shot control arm bushings. It is on my 5k list along with 3 or 4 other things. I feel dumb for selling a perfectly good low mileage 2008 Prerunner for this. Quality went to shit. My old 2000 is still cruising trouble free with 188k miles on it all original engine and tranny.

I have not, they said they pressure washed the bushings on the leaf springs as well as added penetrating grease. It worked for 3 days now she's squeaking and creaking again.... and the problem was from dirt from offroading according to service advisor. So what is the TRD Off Road for anyway?

These are the kind of issues that worry me....'cause I won't see/feel/hear them right away during the test drive.

Well mine is rear wheel drive and has never left the pavement or seen mud. Maybe someone is giving you the BS treatment. But certainly not the Toyota people. My control arms are, at the very worse, a little dusty. I am concerned about the response I will get at my 5k service. Sounds like it is a 50/50 shot of getting the correct response. My tranny also slides into 2nd and 3rd. It has a brief brain fart when going from reverse to drive also. I sure hope it is only low on fluid. When are they going to get some TSB's out for these known issues.

Has anyone had the hood vibration on a sport hood or is it mostly on the flat hoods. I have not noticed it on my truck YET.

Well, whoever Right Toyota outsourced mine to did a lousy job. They used black silicone or whatever they used and smeared it around like a child did it. Looks like c**p on a QS hood. I would have preferred to do it myself. Let's not even get into how they jacked up the balance and/or alignment and damaged the lug openings on 2 of the 4 Fuel Beast wheels. Or the lie about checking the transmission fluid....

Quick question on the hood adhesive issue. My truck is about a month old and Texas built. The material between the frame and the skin is the consistency of a marshmallow. Is that what they've always used, or is this new? I do see a slight flutter in the hood at freeway speed but material does not seem to be separating.

I was told by a buddy that owns a paint and body shop that excessive vibration from the hood can cause paint to crack prematurely. and yes, the adhesive does have the consistency of a marshmallow or actually a bit more like a taffy...

Its the same construction/material as seen on 2nd Gens. Toyota bolted skewps to most second gens, it acts like a gigantic panel stiffener. The long flat hood on ORs or SR5s makes the vibration more prevalent. The giant bass mouth grill in the front doesn't help either I'd guess.

But I've compared the hood on my 05 2nd gen to the 3rd gen hood, both are constructed the same (as far as that taffy/adhesive goes).

The story goes is that adhesive is only needed as a partial step for Toyota manufacturing when they create the hood. I'm guessing its to help hold the understructure of the hood to the actual hood skin, but I'm only guessing.

If anyone is really interested in fixing the flutter/vibration they should go back and read this thread from page 1 and use the correct NVH material to fix it. I've posted as well as other members on a solid fix for this situation.
