Which Go Pro?

Hero 3+ BE. I have many of them

 

Picked up a silver with a free 3 way arm at Microsoft store has the silver on sale for $299, $320 with tax.

 

Just bought this guy on Saturday and love it, especially for $60 and 20+ accessories (even if I will only ever use two).

DAMN...wished I had seen this before I ordered the GP Silver 4. This one you could just used and if it "crapped out" simply throw it in the thrash and order another one. I assume it uses the same clip mount as the GP so you could easily put it in the Tacoma's mount. Just read the specs and it has the auto reversing screen which would be needed since the GP mounts upside down. at least I didn't pay $399 for my Silver 4. It was $319 (free shipping, no tax) when I got it from Amazon. Now they are back up to $399...still a lot more than the $54 Lightdow!

 

That was my thought as well, and yeah it mounts with the existing mount that is in our trucks with zero issues. And the fact that you can use your phone as a wifi controller for it is cool too.

 

I like my Hero 4 Black. Since I use the bacpack battery to extend shooting time, I use my phone to line up the shots. Plus, once you figure out where the field of view is, you can quickly snap your shots.

 

I'm sure the Hero 4 Black has some features that my Hero 4 Silver does not have. But I liked the viewable screen and not being a professional GP user I knew those extra features would not be needed by me. Hell, I don't even use 1/2 of what the Silver is capable of doing. As I stated in post #24, the Lightdow would have probably met my needs quite well.

 

I'm in same boat. I can't decide hero4 black or silver, I like the phone part but also like the screen.

 

So I bought thr 4 black. I am returning it later tonight. It constantly locks up and freezes. When accessing pictures it also freezes. Have to pull battery or hold setup button for like 10 secs. More pain than its worth to me.

I'll try another brand that is stable.

Seemits a common issue and some have luck flashing software. Mine is 3 days old, I'm not flashing anything.

 

Too bad they don't ship to Canada. I already have a dashcam but wanna buy this as back up just in case...

 

Hero2 I've head for years looking to upgrade

 

I have one (Hero 3+ Silver I think) and I've only fiddled with it a few times. I thought it would be cool to use on the dog when hunting and running competitive trials but all of the wearable mounts for the dogs are pretty much worthless functionality wise. Too much movement and wiggle, then the harness will slip to the side or fall off. I put it in the truck but then usually forget to ever turn it on or pull it out to use it. I dunno, just not my thing I guess. I do plan to use it on a dive trip coming up this fall in the South Pacific. We will see how it turns out.

 

Cheapskate me just bought the original Hero. Not much reason to buy a knockoff when you can get the original Hero for only $130 bucks. If I use it a lot and want higher resolution later, then I'll upgrade.

Just got a 4Silver and a fast SanDisk Extreme Plus 128GB (95MB/s 633x) and the 128 works fine, per GoPro rep.

4Silver's are starting to go on sale with new models coming out soon ... I got a deal on mine and a free 128.
