Does anybody know the colors of the wires in the doors? Which is positive and which is negative? It's a 2005 Tacoma. Thanks!!

Installed 6.5 Polk coax's in the front and rear and the clarity is great but the bass is terrible so far. I don't know if I didn't seal between the adapter and the door well enough or maybe the polarity is off. Any suggestions besides dynamat?

You'll get more bass from the 6x9 then the 6.5. OP may not have enough power going to the speakers if he is using OEM HU.

Did you get the polarity right on all the speakers? Crossed polarity will cause the bass to cancel out.

Kenwood Excelon HU so plenty of power. Don't know about the polarity. i watched them and they seemed to be pulsing outward. I caulked between the spacers and the door panel. The spacers are made of particle board ( I know not the best). The stock speakers weren't anywhere near the clarity but blew them away as far as bass...

the speakers are the db651. I know there are better speakers out there to say the least but this lack of bass is a little rediculous... Any help is greatly appreciated.

As asked before... Are you sure you have the polarity correct?? Did you use adapters??

Try using the balance on the radio to switch from side to side. Do you notice more bass when you are tuned to the left?? How about the right?? Now in the center there is no bass. If this is sounding like the problem you have then the polarity is out of phase.

You won't be able to tell the polarity by watching the speakers. You'll need to pull them out and trace the wires.

The speaker movement will look perfectly normal. The issue is that when 1 speaker moves out, another moves in and the net is a sound canceling effect.

Try running just the front speakers, then switch the fade to run just the rears, then just the rights, then just the lefts. If you have more bass sound in any of those configurations than you do when all 4 speakers are powered, it's a polarity issue and you'll need to pull all the speakers and check the wiring.

I did that a few minutes ago and didn't notice a considerable difference in any of them. So, either they're all wrong or the speakers suck... Anywhere to find out what color the positive and negative wires are in the doors? Also, is it possible the speakers just need to break-in?

I didn't know if they would loosen up over time. I'm hoping someone knows the color of the wires in the doors. Which is positive and which is negative. Otherwise I will be taking the doors apart again to switch the wires and see if that works. Please help!!!!

I just checked and they are hooked up correctly so it's either the speakers or air leaking somewhere maybe??? Unless something changes I may be in the market for new front speakers soon...

Throw in a set of 6x9s in the front and power your doors with an amp.

Glad it was hooked up right, but it also kinda sucks. I was really hoping for the cheap fix for you!

The thing that's getting me is that the stock sounded so good as far as bass goes compared to these things. I didn't expect that at all. My next step may just be a small sub.
