Finally got myself a new project. I plan on converting the trailer to an overland trailer that I can tow in and out of state parks and other camping areas. As much as I love the RTT I think it'll be a nice luxury to be able to set up camp, then go explore without constantly setting up and breaking down the tent/setup. I've always loved these 1/4 ton military trailers and to me the M101 CDN2 is the best 1/4 ton option out there. Here's the trailer as I bought it:

    DSC_6912_zpsdkrjekns_4111a5737f3b9c96607619872031c19f15eca7d2.jpg

    SPECS:
    1992 M101 CDN2 1/4 ton military trailer
3500lb axle w/ SUA leaf spring setup
    Lever-activated Hydraulic parking brakes
    Original weather-proof canvas cover

    WORK ALREADY DONE:
    24v to 12v electrical conversion
    Recessed LED tail lights
    Custom tailgate

    TO BE DONE IMMEDIATELY:
    Complete teardown of trailer
    Temporary paint job
3500lb replacement axle w/ matching Toyota hubs
    Electric Brakes
    Re-wire trailer for new brakes
    SOA leaf spring setup
    Replace shocks
    33s or 35s w/ Toyota rims
    Rack system for RTT

    PLANS FOR THE FUTURE:
    Professionally sandblasted and painted
    Steel Lid
    Collapsable Rack System
    Extend trailer tongue
Max Coupler or Lock N Roll
    Battery Setup
Whatever else I can think of

I picked it up from a expedition portal member in Maryland.. He had it all converted and set up for camping and overlanding, but converted it back to sell. About 2 hour drive each way, not bad.. He actually had 25 of these trailers imported from Canada for part of a group buy on portal, guy was real cool about everything.

Some updates on the trailer.. got a lot of new parts for it over the past few days. New axle, electric brakes, wiring harness, and some meats. @philnj let me take his old tires that are collecting dust in his yard. 285/70/17 Nitto Terra Grapplers. Im gonna buy some FJ steelies to use, they're cheap, and look great IMO

A lot of websites sell brakes, almost every trailer website i looked at had brakes available.. you just gotta make sure they are compatible with your axle. I wound up getting these off some store located out west. They are electric brakes, but can still use a parking brake which I like a lot about the CDN M101

New shocks came in also, $20 ea plus shipping. They are NAPA replacements with almost identical specs to the stock military shocks.

Hell yeah man, I've been following it since the beginning its really coming out great.. I don't have the welding skills you have so a conversion is more in my alley then starting from scratch
