    Sub'd!

Saw your post in the 1st Gen mod thread, and I'm super curious to see how you tackle that fender trimming! Also, your truck is damn near the twin of mine (White 2002 TRD OR), so that's cool too.

What size tires are you running? I'm picking up my 315/75R16 Cooper ST Maxxs tomorrow. Can't do anything with em until after the 4th, though...

Its an tedious process for sure!
Alot of cutting, jacking the tire up, turning to lock, checking, rinse and repeat.

And Im also running the 315 75 16. I haggled the tire dealer down on the price, showed them some numbers I found online and negotiated myself a set of 5 Goodyear MTR's.

They are a great looking tire for sure and they'll get me down the trails I'm trying to hit this summer!
Ill get some better pics of the actual cuts tomorrow to show you how were handling it.

Nice work, man. I saw that you'd like to do the Tundra brake upgrade. Just finished mine, along with extended front and rear lines, and I can't recommend it enough. I also did the 'bedding in' process that I found online with the write up, and I think it really helped get the new rotors and pads started off right.

Well I think all the cutting for the Tub is done!
    image.jpg
Passenger side came out alot cleaner than the drivers side. Im going to try and put a thicker plate over the cab mounts. I took a decent amount out of it now I want to reinforce it some.
    image.jpg
Both sides are pretty even as far as how deep into the cab I ended up cutting. And im still thinking the tire will rub the plating a bit after its all done!
Should be rolling tomorrow for a test run if all goes well

I'm trying to keep this mod process as picture heavy as possible. When people say it is a pain, that is an understatement.

doesnt look fun at all....but definitely cheaper than SAS, with your 5.29 gears you had to do something.....or you would of been screaming on the highway with 33's :burnrubber:

Oh trust me I've been screamin down the highway for a while. Pretth much through the entire life span of these 33's. I hardly ever went over 70 just to keep rpms as low as possible.

I'm with @LogCabins. It can't be anywhere near as painful as SAS, and definitely not as spendy; although SAS is exactly where I want to be in a few years... MT, 35s, and tubbing seems like a good interim solution in the meantime.

So you're running 5.29? Have you run those gears yet with 35s, or are your MTRs your first go at that size? Just curious, as I'll be regearing soon, and was looking at 4.88 for my 5-speed and 315s.

Pretty sure this is his first 35 as he was running 33's prior...but you will be good to go with 4.88 gears, but if you ever are considering running 37's I would get the 5.29 gears

Damn! No wonder he was screaming at 70!

Thanks for the input! 4.88 seems to be the consensus for 35s and the manual. When (not if) I get to the point where I SAS, I'd like to run 37s. At that point, I'll be looking at D60s, Ox lockers and 5.29s.

Anyway, enough with the threadjacking... That's looking really good, Rob.

Im with you on that. Tub and 35s is a good intermediary to SAS. Especially when im still in college, trying to balance being not totally broke and still enjoying my hobbies.

Logcabin hit the nail on the head^
Back with the DB the truck had 37s the 5.29s match the tire size perfectly. Ill be it the tires were super heavy and the truck drove like a slug but, It never seemed lacking in the power dept. 4.88s are the popular choice for 35s and those will be your closest match on your speedo. Ive also read from some guys here that regearing with 35s is night and day noticeable with a manual, Not so much for us lazy auto people lol

Trying a little something with the stock flares. See how much of them I can keep. Going to cut them a bit and drill holes in the stock snap pin positions and mount them kinda like bushwacker style with some bolts and rubber washers. I saw a few guys do it with their 2nd gens and it turned out nicely
