after some research i found out i need a different flasher relay or load resistor kit to keep the blinkers from hyper flashing. but seeing as its a 2016 it seems impossible to find a flasher relay. i wonder if the relays for the 2nd gens are the same as the 3rd gens

TIP INSTALLING LED MAP LIGHTS ...

anyone installing LED map lights, the easiest way to replace the 2 bulbs is to remove the overhead console. It just snaps in place .. start at front drivers corner and pull straight down then work your way around all 4 corners till it drops down then you have easy access to bulbs .. i changed my map lights in less than 3-4 minutes using this method

I installed the dome light, vanity mirrors and overhead map lights with bulbs from superbrightleds.com and it came out amazing! I got cool white and could not be happier. My dad liked them so much we ordered him some for his 2014 Tundra.
Dome and vanity mirrors were easy but the map one was hard for me. I used a tape trick to pull out the bulbs since fingers don't fit in that compartment.
Overall i'm so stoked with my lights.

Ps. I just ordered the back up reverse lights for it also so the camera will be brighter at night.

Wrapped duct tape around the bulbs and pulled em out. Took about 30 seconds each at most.

That's what I did and it was still difficult with the tape but point is they are done and look great!

What's holding the cover in place? I've tried pulling from the corner and moving along to the next but it never pops loose. My cover is a little different. It has the crawl control knob and moon roof controls.

I've always bought my LED kits from www.ijdmtoy.com and I pulled all the bulbs out of my Lexus before the lease was up, and I have four 194 and two of the 31mm festoon bulbs now. I hate buying LED bulbs every time I get a new car lol. These ones are the right size but for some reason not working when I tried today, although after reading this thread it seems they may need to be flipped 180.

I like ijdmtoy cuz they come in prepackaged kits, ready to go....Easy. I also noticed their vanity lights are 3LED instead of 1 like you all are linking pictures to. Full kit from them for the 2016 Tacoma with Vanity and License plate bulbs is only $36.97 with free shipping. And they have 15% off for fourth of july. I just need to order vanity lights now and I'm set!

Heres the link to the kit (I always go Xenon White): http://store.ijdmtoy.com/Premium-SMD-LED-Car-Interior-Lights-Package-For-p/smd-toyota-tacoma.htm

I'm on the fence about going with RED/White cause I think it looks great vs the potential of TOO STARK of color. I want something other than the literally 1 candle power lights they have for MAP/DOME (I mean who are they kidding here?) - but dont want to be blinded either.

the link above ^^^ that splizaat pointed out appears decent and with the coupon today its over $5off with free shipping.
Typically all of my LEDs have come from Superbrightleds.com and I've had no issues but its hard to try and figure out what bulb is for what other than what the OP listed at the begining and I dont think we need any CANBUS style bulbs on the Toyota.

FYI the sylvania LED 168/194's that you can buy locally at auto parts stores or Walmart are awesome. Super bright. I have one in the drivers map light. On the passenger side I put a red incandescent for use when on dark hiway. Great combo.

I just ordered these cause I figured they'd work and wouldn't be blinding especially with the dome top cap. Thanks :)

Wasn't sure, so Ended up ordering the Amazon light package and the Superled selection. Would prefer to do the install only once though. Suggestions as to which is the brightest of the two light sets??

Its really not hard and since it's personal/subjective, just put one light in each of the map lights and see which you like better before securing the top panel back in place :)

So much easier to slip a blade up along the lens cover and it pops out. Wrap a loop of painters tape around the bulb and its out.
