Had my springs replaced today, they had the truck for 4 hours...

Drove it home to install my new Wheeler's progressive 1.5" AAL (had a 1.5" non progressive before). I ended up leaving the factory overload in place and I'm glad I did. Before with the stock springs and the 1.5" AAL I was pretty much level at 23.5" in the rear and 23.25" in the front (with the super accurate hub to flare measurement). With the recall springs, wheeler's progressive 1.5" AAL, and the factory overload I am sitting at 23.75" in the rear. I haven't driven on it yet, so I'm not sure how it all rides, but I hope it's better than the single 1.5" leaf.

Update, took in for the "inspection" today. Took about 30 min to tell me it needs new leafs. I did get a free car wash and a cup of good coffee out of it.

They said they would order them and expect a call in about 2-3 months.

    back to bone stock.
while it was a PIA, in the end..i am not horrified by the results.

i took my truck in for an oil change and they did the springs resulting in a low tail, since i had OME 2" lift up front. (my shop had the parts waiting at the ready..no letter, no inspection, no wait time) WAH!! i sourced some newish front struts and went back to stock height. i was pretty much level for the most part. in 3 weeks, the front settled and now i have that stock looking rake back. i just brutalized my truck when i emptied my storage unit. i got my heavy tools. only on one giant bump did i kiss the bumpstops..for the most part, the tail dragged low but held up my load. i already have a campshell on there, so there is additional weight anyways.

good luck everyone with their trucks.

It's the heat. Asphalt can get to 160° plus.

I'm getting the springs replaced on my 15. Took it in for the squeak and they ordered new ones.

I took my 08 in for an oil change this week. I asked about the spring recall. They inspected and said that I had the newer style leafs already. I had the 3 leafs changed out for 4 leafs a few years ago with the TSB. So if you had the leaf spring TSB done, the recall does not apply. At least that's what my dealership said.

That's not necessarily true. However, you can check if you need the new ones yourself.

Here is a screenshot from the technical instructions sent to Toyota techs.

Image #2 is what you're concerned with. If you have six clips, you're good. If not, go back there and tell them to RTFM. Here, I'll even attach it for you to bring to them. :D

I asked my buddies on my AZ bs thread and said fuck that. So I went and de lifted my truck in my buddies garage and add leafs and got rid of the over load spring. SO bam! better ride, lift kept, and all good

Just got my rear leaf springs done today. Took the dealer two months and five days to get the leaf spring pack in and installed. I have to say, I just bought my 05 Taco three months ago and noticed the rear springs squeeking pretty good. I was worried because I didn't want to sink money into a truck I just bought and the noise was embarrassing for a truck I had just purchased, so I called the dealer to get a quote, that's how I found out about the recall. I was, and still am shocked that I was able to get the leaf springs done for free because of the recall, and the leaf springs were 11 years old!! Now that they are installed, no more embarrassing squeek.

Still waiting in Atlanta. They told me the parts would be in in 1-2 weeks. I'm on 7 weeks now.

I had the TSB springs installed about 6 weeks ago and I'm already concerned how they will hold up. I have a Snug-Top fiberglass topper that weighs around 250# but otherwise seldom put much weight in the bed. With just the topper on, it looks like the new springs have basically no arch to them. The truck does ride way better than before and of course Toyota did it for free.

I don't have the cash for Dakar springs and I don't really want to remove a new leaf pack. Is an AAL of some kind the way to go here? Not really looking for lift as opposed to having more arch and weight capacity in the springs.

I had mine replaced about three weeks ago and now the truck sits at least an inch lower! What the? Anyone else have this problem? The ride of my truck was fine before.

Just got mine replaced on my 09 TRD DC as well. Ride seems ok, but sitting lower. Not happy about that. Literally just drove back from dealership, so not sure what I'm doing yet.

I called a local dealer (not the original dealership where I got my truck) and they said I could bring the truck in that day. ( A couple of weeks ago) That didn't work for me so I left it over night that evening. They called me at 8 AM the next morning saying the springs were changed out. I think they must get a good rate from Toyota to do these recall jobs? I guess my experience is about as good as it gets.

I had a clunk develop a month or two ago. I could not find it.. looked.... jumped on the bed... pushed...pulled the wheels, I could not figure out where it was coming from. With the springs changed, the clunk is gone.

My truck, all standard suspension, is a bit higher, may-be an inch? I thought it would settle but it has stayed at the slightly higher level. The ride is substantially improved. Dare I say it, it was riding like a truck, rough and a bit 'woozy' and vague when you hit a rough road section. With new springs the ride firmed up a lot in a good way. Then I installed new KYB shocks and now the ride is firm and smoothed out considerably. I think its better than new.

So, the springs in my case made a big, noticeable improvement. And the clunk is gone. I like the ride the KYB shocks provide
