That's all I want. HP and throttle response are just a bonus.

I'm a noob when it comes to CAI's though.

I'm just basing it off the 4.0 and 2.7/ 2nd. This topic has been discussed over and over in the past. CAI for these Toyota trucks haven't done anything unless they ran the TRD Super charger or some boost. If you search how they did on 2nd gens it was kinda a waste of money.

Biggest thing is filtration, they will flow more air, but what comes with that? Dirt. Plus K&N and other oil bathed filters have been known to mess up MAF. I've ran a K&N on a Raptor 700 sport atv and have observed premature wear on the motor after doing a top end rebuild. So I stuck with disposables since they filter way better. Plus the 3.5 comes with CAI stock. We will see how it goes with the 3.5

Drill a 5"hole into your firewall and run the CAI into it and pic up all the cold air you want from the windshield cowl area !!

Or drill it into your firewall to the cab and place it by the AC Vent- turn it up on cold and fan on high.

I'm looking at doing what I mentioned in my previous post there's plenty of room to do this

It's easy enough to do on any muscle car also this is how Nascar gets cold air to the throttle body

Yeah lots of guys who have mud trucks do the same. Keeps all the water and mud out.

Filtration to an extent doesn't bother me. I won't own the truck past 30k miles, so I doubt I will see any effects in my ownership period. As long as the filter is up and away from water.

Oh only 30k?! Lol I'm planning to keep mine for 10yrs/200k whatever comes first. Maybe even longer. Trying to avoid premature blow by or burning oil. Go for it man. Write a review if you can? I haven't seen any for the 3.5 CAI systems.

On my 2003 Toyota celica I've had a AEM open filter cold air intake placed right in front of my drivers side wheel. I bought the car with it on at 78k miles and today it passed 216k miles on the same engine. No problems caused from the extra dirt coming in through the CAI. I just keep up on my oil changes.

Probably closer to 15-20k to be honest. I don't drive as much as some people. And what I do is split across multiple vehicles

My Pontiac g8 that I posted above. Nothing hardcore. I just hit a few events a year for fun, not the money. I run 12.0 index and true street classes. Plus it's a lot of fun on the street

Here's the best type of CAI and on my Camaro . Good for 3/10ths second reduction in ET and 7 mph in the 1/4

So the AFE doesn't filter as good as oem ? I wanted to go with AFE dry for the 3.5 it comes out end of the month. I'm just looking for maybe ....maybe throttle response and some sound. But I plan on holding on to this truck for a while, will this cause extra wear to the engine ?

Very nice gains for an intake. Props to AFE for doing the R&D. I will definitely keep my eyes out for first hand reviews!
