Well my trophy truck is gone. On the way to our annual Deschutes River steelhead guided trip on hwy 97 north of Madras, we were involved in a terrible accident caused by an oncoming jackknifed truck pulling a travel trailer hitting us and sending us into a ditch. Thankful that all in both vehicles were able to walk away with minor injuries.

Luckily I bought gap insurance, which needless to say is paying for itself 10 times over. Frame damage and other serious damage has insurance looking at a total loss. It has allowed me to get a better truck at the same monthly payment with no money down for a shorter term. Saved me about $5k in the long run. Put a deposit down to hold a new 2016 TRD OR Long bed AT in inferno for a very good price. Will post pics soon of the new rig, but very thankful for a quality truck. For all of the grief this new design has been taking, it sure held up its end of the bargain safety wise. Good on ya Toyota. And so far State Farm has been relatively easy to work with, so that's been surprisingly good!

Wow! Glad everyone is OK. That looks like a nasty crease down the side. I wonder if the changes made to improve small offset crash worthiness helped at all? It does look like the impact got deflected outward slightly behind the front wheel where the cab mount was reinforced.

[Edit: looking again, it seems the impact came in well above the cab mount. Also, thinking about what it would have been like to have the same accident in my '86 truck gives me shivers.]

Just kidding. I'm glad to be in one of these trucks when something like that happens. Knock on wood it never happens to anyone.
