Ten years too late if they do. The EPA has killed Diesel engines in this country with EGR, SCR, and all the related processes and parts. Reliability is down SIGNIFICANTLY. The road to get where they are now nearly took Ford out of the diesel pick up business.

2007 and older semi trucks (with engines made before this emissions garbage became mandatory) are selling for WHAT THEY COST NEW, or more.

The shame of it is, if the Tundra got better MPG (real world numbers I hear from friends who own them are horrifying) Toyota would own a BIG piece of the full size truck market.

I heard late 2016 or early 2017 but that's not confirmed. I don't think it's too late at all though. I have a 2013 ram 2500 with the cummins 6.7L in it and it is great. I don't drive it usually, as its one of my work trucks but it has 250,000 on it and I have put $3500 in it. They are talking about putting a 5.0L cummins in the tundra and if they do I am thinking that'd be a great truck.

If it follow suit with the Titan it will be heavier duty then 1/2 ton but not a 3/4 ton. If you need a heavy duty pickup you've still got three options, ford ram chevy

I personally am a Ram fan when it comes to heavy duty, which is why I am so excited for the cummins engine in the tundra because as far has trucks go tundra is by far my favorite, but a tundra with a cummins I feel like would last forever. Not that they don't last for ever anyways

Tundra is a solid platform, Cummins motors used in the Rams, the isb series is a totally different platform then that being used in the Titan (v8 diesel) It's also more of a light duty motor so no one knows how it will be in the long haul.

You guys are kidding yourselves if you think Toyota is going to put a diesel in the Tundra. I would like whatever you all are smoking.

Toyota has been talking about a diesel Tundra for almost a decade. First is was supposed to be a joint venture between Toyota and Aisin to develope a new engine. Then there was speculation that CAT was going to develope something for them. This is the first I've heard of Cummins getting involved. Not sure if Toyota sells enough Tundras to justify the cost of adapting it to the existing platform. :notsure:

Forget it. Toyota's cost versus ACTUAL U.S. buyers (not people just liking the idea) giving them profit will never make sense.

Now that we got Trumpy, maybe EPA regs will loosen up and it will make the idea a little more feasible :oldglory:
