Took the truck in today to a SE Toyota Dealer in FL to have the TSB completed as I still have the R -> D shift delay, cruise control issues, and sometimes very rough shifts through the lower gears. The service guy came out about 30 mins later and told me that since I already had the truck in once for the same issues (trans fluid check and fill 1qt low) that he had to open a tech case with Toyota for it. Seriously? He said they didn't even have the update and Toyota had to "release it to them".

He had to keep the truck overnight to handle it tomorrow morning. They gave me a '16 quicksand DCSB 4x2 Limited as a loaner. So glad I didn't buy this POS. It's doggy, sloppy, and not worth near what it costs. I can't wait to have my TRDOR back.

Got mine done today at team toyota baton Rouge I believe I was the first one to get it there! A 60 miles trip after from baton Rouge to lafayette feels better it's like the truck finally figured out it got a 5th gear it can use.

Picked mine up and did an extended test drive.

Jumped on freeway put it on cruise control at 65mph and went up the grapevine(very long grade here in LA) way better stayed in one gear all way up at around 3k rpm. Before it would jump around and wind out the motor to like 4-5k rpm.

Twisty hilly road test. Seems to stay in gears a little longer, smoother shifts.

Seems like a new truck to me, I am very pleased. They also added fluid to the tranny. I can't really tell from the receipt but it looks like they put in 3 quarts!!!

So my truck isnt in the list of TSB VINS. WTH...... Same components, same software but I don't get a update? Mine does the R to D issue where it kinda slams into Drive after RPMS raise a little, gear hunting, etc. Why don't I get a update?

Good news to report! I had my 10,000 mile service done today and ask about having the T-SB-0077-16 performed. They were not aware of it but promised to check into it...later I learned they did it with no problems. I really like this transmission now! 6th gear finally has some "balls". It can maintain a highway speed without loosing momentum/speed on slight inclines; therefore, I can finally use cruise control again...yes!!! No gear searching and downshifting all the time while using the cruise (that was my only complaint before this TSB). This truck just feels a little more "peppy". Also, the gas mileage is better!! After 20 minutes around town and then my usual 30 minute trip home, my mileage was up 3 mpg...wow! Ok, I'll shut up now and go take my truck for another spin :)

I wonder if they just used your job to "true up" inventory. They may have used 2 quarts earlier in the week and figured they throw yours and the others on the warranty invoice to so the overall amount used stayed correct. Or they pulled 3 quarts from stock and added it to the invoice, used 1.5 and the rest is waiting for the next job or the tech's personal ride. Just speculating.

3 quarts is a LOT to be low. Holy shit balls batman. That could leave some longterm damage to the internals. I'd be raising hell with corporate. No excuses

Agreed, I am going to open a Corp ticket tomorrow. It drives like a whole new truck after the TSB and fluid topoff, but who knows how much life having it that low sucked out of it.

Just dropped my truck off at the dealer for my 5k service and told them my trans issues and the service writer mentioned the TSB and said they would do it if my truck was eligible, which I know it is. I will report back after I pick up the truck today and get a chance to actually drive it.

Also, for those who have had the TSB done and say it's like having 1/2 ECT, what is like when you use the ECT button? Does it still have the same effect? Also any reports with towing?

It's 112 degrees outside. I don't have a lift and I work full time. I paid for a brand new $39,000 toyota based on their reputation for reliability and a quality vehicle. Also to ensure there was some coverage under warranty for a decent period while breaking in the new truck. So essentially I paid for toyota trained and hired experts to do the job and by god I expect them to do it. So far the dealer has treated me well. No excuses out there for the incompetent ones. And no reason in the world any other customer shouldn't get the service they paid for.
