Forgot all about those damn things. And the $5 Bluetooth dongles. I love when they pull the CAN-bus, or LIN-bus down causing a multitude of issues

Dealers can and will be dicks sometimes for whatever reason. So do what you want.

My local dealer service manager gave me shit when I asked them to check trans fluid levels. They said no need to. I asked for them to do it anyhow as I've read about a bunch low on fluid. I said I'll gladly pay for the service if it's full. If it's not its on you. He kept telling me it's expensive. I kept saying I don't care about that and understand what's going on here. He kept arguing even after I requested a service at my expense. He kept being a dick. So I just asked him to note my work order about trans shifting issues and I'll ask each time I go in. If he keeps refusing to do the service at my expense or his and the trans nuke itself I'm good with that.

Not that I have issues but for someone who regularily drives up/down mountains with dirt bikes I'll pay for the peace of mind.

First scratch killed me. I still take it easy, but small buffable scratches don't bother me as bad

I had a tiny paint chip in my hood at about 1200 miles....it was devastating....but I gabbed a paint pen and fixed her all up, good as new! I am definitely still that way though. I will park in the back of the lot at the store, and still do a lap around it when I get back

A 265/70/17 is 1" taller, same width, than a 265/70/16. I've been running 265/75/16's on my Tacoma for 3 years. They are the same diameter as the 265/70/17's, but slightly narrower.

It will effectively change the axle ratio resulting in somewhat less power. It will change the odometer and speedometer slightly. In my case the speedo is now accurate. It used to read 3mph faster than I was actually driving. If you are within 3-5 mph of the speed limit you won't have a problem. With a couple of exceptions it is illegal for most cops to write a ticket here in Georgia unless you are 11 over the posted limit anyway. A school or construction zone are the exceptions.

But a little perspective. The difference in power is minimal. If towing near the max it might be noticeable. Going up 2-3" makes a noticeable, and unacceptable difference in my opinion. Unless you go to the trouble to re gear. Since I stayed with the same type tire, just 1 size larger there is zero difference in fuel mileage with my truck One inch just isn't enough to matter much. In fact, a brand new 265/70/16 will be EXACTLY the same diameter as a 265/70/17 tire at some point in it's life as it wears down. In fact the 17" tire could end up being shorter near the end of it's useful life than the 16" tire when new.

I'm convinced the WEIGHT difference going to an LT tire vs a P series DOES NOT impact fuel mileage or performance. Most people who go to an LT tire also go to a tire with a much more aggressive tread that increases rolling resistance. It is the tread pattern that reduces fuel mileage, not the weight. A hwy tire will give best fuel mileage in either a P or LT tire. The more aggressive the tread, the more power it takes to turn them and they don't coast as easily when not getting power. I've seen 2-3 mpg loss going from an LT hwy tread to an LT mud tire. The really aggressive treads aren't offered in P series tires.

I like the look, and found a 265/75/16 tire to be cheaper than 265/70/16, and because it is a more common size found far more options. I'd make the change and not worry about it.

My truck with the bigger tires. I waited until mine was 6 years old and over 120,000 miles. I wish I'd done it when I bought the 1st set of tires.

I would be extremely dubious of buying a dealer modified vehicle. I dont doubt "that" dealership will do the warranty work on modified parts, BUT what about other dealerships?? Are they obligated? Let's say I buy a dealer modded truck and have a warranty issue two states away from where I bought the truck? Will the dealer/Toyota two states away honor a warranty claim on the modded parts?

I ask those question rhetorically. A guy on the Jeep forum found out the hard way that it wasnt covered and that other dealers are not obligated to honor such. In fact, that dealer out of state flagged his Jeep Wrangler. I think ultimately his dealer back home stepped up and got the flag removed, and also "reimbursed" their customer for the repair for which he had to pay.

I agree with this ^^. Weight does matter, particularly if you go up 10-15 lbs per tire, but rolling resistance is the bigger culprit for robbing mpg's. I went slightly down from stock 265/70/16 GY Kevlars to 245/75/16 Maxxis Buckshot 2's and lost 2-3 mpg's. The Buckshot 2's only weigh 41 lbs, which is very close to the weight of the stock tire.

Dealers around my area dont jack with you on warranty claims unless 1) your mods are over the top, or 2) their ass is in a crack on a lemon law or breach of implied warranty of merchantability claim. Then, they will use whatever they can to bolster their position.

At least there is some ground to stand on and thats why I had my lift installed from a certified installer and I'm covered for 5 years or 60k miles. They at least stand behind their products.

I guess it all boils down to driving what you like and what makes you happy. You only live once. If shit breaks fix it and move on. Otherwise sell everything and ride the bus.

Concerning weight- a lot of tires have very little difference between a c load range tire and e. The st Maxx's are a good example. My 265/70/17 e rated tires weigh pretty much the same as a 255/70/17 c rated tire. Actually according to cooper the c rated is heavier.

    https://www.treaddepot.com/#!productDetail/tireStandardFitment/90000003097

A dealer or Toyota can't 'ding' you if you run a heavier tire with regards to warranty. If you need an e rated tire- you need it.

Since I often run chains in hunting season and winter- I like having 10 ply tough tires.

A few have voiced concerns about lifts & voiding warranty, I was at Toyota of El Cajon today & couldn't help checking out a "lifted" 2016 sitting proud & pretty on the show room floor, a salesman was talking about the lift to a potential customer as I walked past I asked the salesman HOW it was lifted & he muttered something about a 2.5" spacer being used. I said "Oookkk" . I'm assuming that it didn't void any warranty implied...

"Depends".... Mods dont typically void a warranty in and of itself, but rather the modded part must cause the failure of a component part that someone tries to get repaired under warranty. Just because a vehicle has mods doesnt mean the warranty is 'voided.' If the dealer can reasonably articulate how a mod not added from the factory caused the failure of said component part, then Toyota/manufacurer isnt obligated to cover it under the "factory" warranty. That includes dealer modified vehicles. That specific dealer that modded the vehicle may and probably will cover it, but that doesnt obligate any other dealer/Toyota to cover said failure under the "factory" warranty. How peculiar a service advisor is can vary from person to person. The more modded a vehicle is, the more likely you'll run into problems.
