After 3 months of waiting, ridiculous loads of dealership lies and general bullshit it is here! The delivery truck pulled in when I was literally at the dealership talking to the service manager about why my truck was still not there (despite being a week and a half past the latest possible delivery contract I signed), and why after talking to them since june, when it was expected to arrive, they had done nothing to try and locate it. Additionally, I had asked that before purchasing I wanted them to check at fluid manually, u joints, u bolts and perform the TSB. While I new that was a bit much, I figured I had leverage since hadn't signed for the truck yet. He straight up tried to back out of the sale and told me these things were not gonna happen and I should look elsewhere for a truck. My fear all along is that he would pull the deal now that the contract was expired and sell it for more money. This would not be hard since tacomas fly off the lot here. Have you ever heard of a salesman trying to talk you out of buying a car?!? After, I told him that I had done lots of research and ordered this truck to my specs because I knew it was the vehicle I wanted. I just wanted to make sure when spending this money that transmission and other issues are fine, which should be expected for a brand new truck. He proceeded to tell me he had never heard of any of those issues and that I was crazy if I thought they would take the time to check the fluid manually. Anyways, I saw my truck shining in the sun on the delivery truck as it pulled in and it appeased most of my anger/frustration. I realized they had the true leverage in that I had been waiting for this truck for so long, and now this big fancy gift was in my face and I couldn't say no. They agreed to let me keep the truck overnight and test drive it since it was already late. I could proceed w paperwork in am. That evening I tested out situations like cruise control going up and down hills, general shifting, r-d delay, and four wheel drive capabilities. It drove pretty well I thought with a little upshift delay in cruise and small r-d delay. I also noticed it felt like it would downshift when coasting, acting like a brake. It all seemed pretty minor and inconsistent, plus I think I was so taken by finally getting the truck I convinced myself I was definitely buying it. Also, I sold my current car earlier that day, so I woulda been hitching for some time. Anyways, I drove it in the morning and it acted a bit more funky, likely due to the cold start I thought. I talked to the saleswoman who told me the truck was just learning. I was so tired of dealing with them, I bought my truck and left trying to not "look" for problems and just enjoy the truck. I really do like it, but still notice some of the shifting issues in the TSB. I was planning to drive from new mexico where I am living to durango CO for some mtn biking and figured I'd call the dealership there. Even if I am straight up imagining the issues, I would have so much better piece of mind if they would perform the TSB. Tech guy from Durango was awesome over the phone and said he new exactly what I was talking about!! Have an appt set for the 28th, and hoping for the best. My only fear is that they if they find at fluid low they might attribute those problems to low fluid and not do the TSB. Wish me luck.

Anyways, sorry for the long rant and all the bitching but have had some much pent up rage about the dealership and flaky sales manager who lied through his teeth. I really like the truck. I can't wait to get more miles on it. Here is a picture I took when I first test drove it. You can I imagine why there was no way I could say no at that point! Thanks for all the great info TW, it has helped me dial in on what issues might be going on and how to address them.

Congrats! I was to the point where I heard enough complaints about the 3rd gen, I was no longer interested in it. A few months past by, my friend bought one. I driven it a few times and have nothing bad to say about it, other than more power would be nice. Until the day comes for me to buy, 3rd gen will be my next vehicle. Shouldn't be too much longer.

Vescovo Toyota in Las Cruces. Pretty disappointing. Had I been able to find same truck and similar price, I would definitely have taken my business elsewhere once the order contract expired.
