We hit 102 at the base of the Rockies today & not that far from the Wyoming border. I don't want to know what it feels like east of here :bananadead:

Looks great!! I hope it is worth all the work, I know I feel like it is for sure!

It is hotter than hell here in AZ. It feels like you are in an oven outside.

All I heard today was how bad I stink and some bullshit about swamp-ass.

10 - 5. Took my sweet ass time getting the wires trimmed and the panels back in the truck.

The shallow mount isn't as deep as I was hoping, I still have some tuning to do though.

Feeling accomplished as this was my first time doing an install. Wife is saying she wants a bigger sub in her car. Must sound good enough currently

Nice job man! That's awesome for your first audio install.

Tuning is important, but so is breaking in the sub. Mine sounds 100% better after playing it for a month.

Not just the sub. The midranges/midbasses will change quite a bit in character as well & even tweeters to a lesser degree. No need to go easy on anything though. Let 'er rip. Just know the character will change until everything gets settled in.

I forgot about the break in. Thanks for reminding me. Gains and volume up it is!

You gotta go easy on the speakers during the break in period. Don't blast it too loud for the first couple of weeks. I toasted a JL Audio w4 by working it too hard before it was broken in.

I guess we have heard two different things. I have been told by numerous installers that you gotta break the subs in before you blast em. Hmmm, I wonder what is the right thing to do?

Actually I wanna turn the gain down on the sub a little. It gets a little boomy at high volume. Want it to be more tight.

I know it will get there. Still has no problem sounding better than the factory shit, that should be obvious though. so far satisfied with what I purchased. I will admit I was hoping for a little more mid sounds from the components. Maybe that will come with break in?

Gotta be like the diff theories for breakin in motors. Some say beat the shit out of it. Others say not to go above certain rpm and take it easy.

On my mustang I couldn't help myself. Floored it on day one taking it to redline often. I wonder how that turned out. Traded in for the truck.

What's happening with break-in is the soft parts (spider and surround) become more pliable after a bit of time. They offer less mechanical resistance. One might argue that a driver can take the most abuse when it's brand new as the danger of overexcursion is lower due to the stiffer soft parts. Once those loosen, everything moves more freely. AFAIK, thermal power handling does not change during this time - only the malleability of the soft parts...which supports that idea.

So the door handle slides in and kinda gets stuck in place by the panel. I took out all the screws, and couldn't get the handle out. I was able to get a pick with a hook in the door area, unlodged the cable end (with the ball) managed to get a pair of needle nose pliers on the ball and tugged. Nothing happened.

I wonder what the hell happened??!? Not even sure what I might do next

That SUCKS! I'm assuming you tried to look down the window channel as well? I really don't see why it wouldn't open if you tug on the cable. Maybe you flipped a child lock switch or something? I just looked at mine, and it looks like you could perhaps flip the child lock switch upward if you had a thin piece of plastic that would slip in there.

The big question in my mind is why the exterior door handle wouldn't work.

Know it's not the child lock. The door was able too pop half open and that's it.

Haven't been able to get any more. I'm guessing both cables somehow got out of their holders and it's the lock holding me up.

I don't have the patience to deal with it any more. Taking it to the dealer Friday, getting the tranny update then too. Hope this isn't to expensive. I was ready to rip the damn cover off last night.

Just like I thought. The door handle and lock cable had come out of their holder. It must have happened while I couldn't look at them trying to aligning the panel
