2.7 taco auto. Only happens when accelerating but not all the time. This isn't the howling thing either....any suggestions?

If you're talking about the high pitch noise at the end I would check your rear diff.

Could be wind rushing under the front lower control arms. I think the arms have like 2 or 3 holes that you can plug under each one. I did it on mine when I got it new. I never hear any whistle sounds I've read about the noise before. Could be a rear diff thing too. Noise at higher speeds only?

I can hear the noise you are talking about also. Dealership is conducting the TSB tomorrow. But the noise at the end is different. I will bring up the rear diff to them.

That is not the same sound as my rear differential howl of which dealers are now doing a replacement of my rear diff assembly. It is different from the lower control arm howl as well.

    Sounds like a turbo whine!

This thing could use a turbo! I haven't been to the dealer yet, the parts for the TSB still are not in. They didn't have an idea what the noise might be after watching the video.

Is it the landing gear being retracted ?
Seriously, can you duplicate it to a specific gear/rpm or a certain speed any gear ?

Usually it is in between 3-4th but this morning it happened between 1st-2nd. First time it has done that. It happens probably 30% of the time I accelerate so its tough to troubleshoot

Funny as I have been dealing with that noise as well.

This truck did not have that in the beginning, it just appeared suddenly. Happens much more often than 30% to me too..

My 2.7 has the same noise. Seems to happen more with air conditioner on. Doesn't happen all the time.

I have that exact noise only between about 38 to 48 mph. It happens randomly as your going up and down between those speeds. I have the V6/AT OR/TRD model. 500 miles on it today.

I had it happen yesterday! First and only time it has ever happened. I had just switched to 2nd, going up a hill accelerating hard and there it was! Lasted for a few seconds and sounded the exact same as your video.

It isn't the differential howling, it isnt the transmission, and it can't be the engine unless they happen to share some component. I have a 4x4 V6 manual transmission.

Like I said, first and only time it has ever happened. Immediately thought of this thread as I had watched the video when you first made the thread and thought "wow, glad mine doesn't do that" ha!

At least knowing that it happened to me on the v6 manual transmission should help you rule a lot out.

Once it happened to me going about 65mph. I believe the sound came from my drivers side view mirror.

I think I've heard this too- originally I thought it must have been the radio, but now I'll have to listen more closely.

Someone mentioned the AC system being the cause... semi-related anecdote. I had a Volkswagen GTI that made a strange groaning fart noise from the AC whenever you turned the car off. Like, car turns off, followed by a couple seconds of "whhhhhhhhhhooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrnk" that sounded like a train's brakes or something. Never figured out what it was, aside from the fact that it was definitely the AC, probably some pressure lines vibrating, and that it never had any ill effect on the car other than being annoying.
