I'll let you know when I'll be bringing down a tree and you know you're gonna get some rations off that as well for helping.

I just checked the site. Fires are still allowed at established sites. Although this status can change daily this time of year.

I used to be all about going out in the woods with buddies and a full ice chest and cutting wood all day. Sometimes we would even make a camping trip out if it. Did that for years. It's a lot of hard labor forsure which im cool with. We have been buying a our cords of wood though for the past few years as my girl works in the office for one of the biggest firewood/construction company's up here so we get a killer deal as well.

Got the campfire permit, but camping at Serrano is out of the question until mid October, they're fully booked on all the weekends. I'll be looking for somewhere I can drive up Friday night and stay till Sunday afternoon

Oh heck yeah! I have family in La Habra. I'm goin'. That's all there is to it. I'm fuckin' goin'
snappers. Serrano is a very popular site right on the lake. Pine Knot, Holcomb Valley, and Barton Flats would be my next choices in that order.

Just checked all of them, and they're all booked until late August at the earliest, except for Holcomb as it doesn't have reservations, so I might be able to just leave early morning on a Saturday to try and get a spot. Or I'll have to search somewhere other than Big Bear

You're gonna probably wanna leave early on Friday for a spot. If you're wanting a yellow post site this one was available on Memorial weekend when camp hosts at Holcomb laughed at us telling us good luck finding a site on a holiday weekend. Bring ez ups though. No shade as its a burn area but the trees and cool off reading is 500 ft away.

Ya, that's the issue with the first come, first serve. I can't take Friday's off so I'm kind of out of luck unless I can find a reservation. Might have to reschedule this trip to late August when I can reserve a site. Thanks for the advice though

Look into seven oaks campground. It's about 1/3 of the way up hwy 38 coming to big bear. It's the same style as Serrano as well. There is also the Santa Ana stream that runs through it and you can do some fishing there. (Brown trout). They might be booked as well because it's pretty popular, but probably worth a shot. I know there is quite a few other campgrounds headed up highway 38 into big bear as well.

Seven oaks. Always thought that was a private campground. Good to know it's open to the public. Thanks, Jerry. :hattip:

:fistbump: Yep its public. My girl and me camped there last summer. It's a pretty developed campsite in some aspects. There is a bar and pool haha but it's really nice and the river that runs through it is pretty awsome.

Let Me ask my girl for the number. They have a an account with her for firewood so she should have it. I think it is reservation though but not 100% on that. Give me a sec.
