I'm not knocking the tire at all, my only grief with khumo is they are not made in USA. My dad ran them on his 4 door titan and got 45k miles out of them. Also the truck is my daily driver. So I understand why you want to keep it as economical as possible

yes, probably go with Michelins since they are rated extremely well by people and can operate in all conditions very well, think I will get the BJs Wholesale version X Radial LT Michelin stock size.[IMG]

Camping most nights. Probably grab a few hotels just for comfort.

Also, not trying to start an argument but the guy in the post stated that three separate times he discovered bulges in his tires and continued to drive on them. i would think that most people that notice bulges in their tires get them fixed because it usually ends in tire failure

Just have to ask ... Isn't your life worth more than the few dollars you saved on unreliable tires?

My prayers are with you. Really hope you don't run off the road on a blowout, and not found for several days later in barren Alaska.

Best wishes, and enjoy your trip and camping!

I understand the concern, but I do have confidence in the tires. As I mentioned I'll be checking the tires multiple times a day.

There are many reviews both for and against these tires. Some people abuse them daily and have no issues and others put them on their daily driver and have had problems.

I wouldn't run the tire if I wasn't comfortable with them. I discovered the company about a year ago and have read every review I could find. I've talked with Treadwright and they believe in their product. They know the miles I'm about to put on these tires in the during the two week trip and they have complete confidence in their product.

Not that exciting or a fancy clean mount job, but I threw a cobra 25 with a Wilson 1000 magnet mount antenna in the truck today. Privacy will hardly be used but if I manage to not get stuck in traffic just once in the trip it'll be worth the $100. Also, I could be wrong but my understanding is cell service can be spotty in the Yukon Territory and AK so in case of emergency it's another potential method of communication.

Finally mounted my Treadwright Warden 2's today and I am very happy with them. one tires balanced at 3.3 ounces, one at 1.25 ounces, and two at 2.3 ounces. Only have 100 miles on them but there is zero road noise.

I am also very happy with how the 235/85/16 look with a two inch lift. They are heavier than the stock tires as these are ten ply but I have no trouble running the speed limits.

I leave for Pruhdoe Bay this Saturday and will keep posting updates in the trip!

Can't wait to follow you on this trip! Take lots of pictures! I wouldn't worry to much about the tires, I know 2 people with them that have racked up some serious miles with no issues other than somewhat rapid wear. Kudos to you for tackling that many miles in a bench seat! That was my only complaint with my single cab Taco.

Have a safe trip. I went to Alaska in 1998 to do some fishing and it was amazing, but I stayed on the Kenai peninsula. The farthest north we went was Lake Louise. I'll never forget that trip.

I saw a thread on here about making the bench seat recline a little. That is still on the list for this week, before I leave Saturday. I'm hoping that with the seat leaned back a little bit more and a small cooler as an arm rest it'll be manageable.

Thanks, I haven't slept in about three days from excitement and a little bit of nerves. Found a bad wheel bearing tonight so that's on the short list of repairs this week.

Have fun on your journey. I've driven from Oregon to Anchorage a few times. Pretty country for sure.

Made it up to Minot, ND tonight. Roughly 1,700 miles from home. We're crossing the border tomorrow and going to Dawson Creek.ill have more pictures once we start the Alaskan Highway.

Wanted to give a few updates though. The Treadwrights are working great! We've been running 75mpg plus for the last two days in 90 degree weather. We also ran through a huge storm in Chicago, and the tires handled great in the rain covered roads.

Also I found a cure for the windshield kazoo! I filled the void in the windshield seal with clear silicone. I ran a bead directly above the rear view mirror about 10 inches wide. We ran across North Dakota today for 5 hours with a head wind. Not a peep from the kazoo!
