I definitely agree, and I still check both mirrors and over the shoulder, but if I paid for something I damn well expect it to work.

It's already the 3rd time that I'm having issues with my BSM after doing some off-road at the beach. Getting pretty tired of having to take it to the dealership to get it fixed. Is anyone else having issues when playing in the sand?

I get alerted that the BSM is not available. So there I go again having to take it to the dealership. It kind of defeats the purpose of having an off-road truck if I'm going to have to take it in every time I actually use it off-road.

I had the "Check BSM" message come up 3 times (I have 5300k). It clears when I restart the truck. The dealer checked it at my 5k service but didn't find any codes.

This is what I got back from the dealership. It's working now, but wanted to show the stated reason why it wasn't working.

How long did they have your truck in service for the "BSM AXIS ADJUSTMENT"? Under 3k (all highway miles) and mine failed....It has been almost a :censored: month since I got my truck though.

Mine was fixed yesterday. I purchased a TRD Off Road with the BSM not working when I received it. I took it back to the dealership and and they replaced all the parts without an success and told me they would need to keep it a week because they thought there must be an issue somewhere in the wiring harness. A couple hours later they called me back and said that a bent pin in the "IA3" connector found in the driver kick panel was causing the system to malfunction. He adjusted the pin and everything's working perfect now. He said that a TSB was probably going to be created for it as the head office (or whoever he spoke to when he discovered the problem) had not seen that before but have had a lot of complaints similar to mine. So you might want to start there if you can.

Was your BSM system getting power...? ie: mine does not have power to the switch..... It did at first, but then went "power-less".... I'm thinking this wiring harness thing just might be MY issue as well....

    Please advise....
    Thanx man...

Mine is been hit and miss since the day I drove it home from the dealership. Had a dealership check on it, says they can't find the problem and keep them informed

That's what my dealer said also... they looked at it for about an hour and then sent me away with... "We can't find the problem, we will consult with Toyota" to see what they want us to do.... The Tech said he didn't want to start pulling my dash and checking ALL connectors, etc.... I said "THANX"... I don't want that either...

That was 3 weeks ago... since then the Ser. Mgr. said he has another truck with exact same issue and is working with Toyota to see what they suggest.... "We'll call ya" if we can find the issue.... NO call yet..!!

Fingers crossed... :fingerscrossed:, but this BSM thing was not something I wanted or felt I needed in the first place... BUT.. Toyota put it into a high-priced package and I paid for it.... so, they better fix it..!!:amen:

Funny that you mention that. They were packed full of mud before hitting the water and I had a visitation. Hit the water, vibration gone

Have them check it anyway. There will be error codes in the ECU. Mine was intermittent and was not failing when I brought it in, but the code indicated a faulty sensor. It was replaced and the BSM has not failed since. This was about 9 months ago.

When I pass cars on the passenger side, it doesn't always register on the passenger side BSM. It works maybe 70% of the time. No error codes on the dashboard. I took it in to the dealership and they changed the rear sensor on the passenger side bumper. It didn't fix the problem. Does anybody else have this issue? Was your dealership able to fix it? If so, what did they do to fix it?
