Mid Travel BS 2.0

I'll be honest, I have no idea how @LTDSC blew his shock up lol. Pretty sure a couple donuts aren't going to do it (calm down Sam, I meant donuts in the truck, not in you :rofl). I was actually surprised when Sam kept going around big bumps and ruts and stuff out in the dunes that seemed like a fun little obstacle to bounce through and he didn't hit any whups at speed or anything.

 

Also, we now know you have to link your rear. After seeing that other guy's T4R and see him blast us all out of the water with 2WD and 18-24" of travel per wheel or so, yeeaaaahhhhhh.

 

i had the cooler in the back Sunday, and it launched and i had broken glass everywhere in the cargo area. But the rear shocks are so stiff. Im not sure how this time was different than last but they suck, i was bucking everywhere in the rear. Front felt good though.

Plus i went easy because the LCAs, being new i was nervous lol

 

Thats because the shock was blown up and went in to "I give up" mode and then the front end performed great

 

Yeah well, my last time I had an industrial size bag of cheez-its decide it didnt want to stay closed and exploded in my back seat. I still find cheez-its down at the cab mounts occasionally and theres cheez-it dust permanently stuck in my seats

 

surprisingly i didnt even feel it was blown up front, my only complaints were the rear. it got real old bucking around on smaller whoops. bout 30 MPH was max before bronco'd

 

Hahah yeah. Even on the way out to sand highway, going over those baby whups sucked at 20 mph. To many fuckin rentals out to try to get sny speed on them.

 

now that i know the front end is good to go, ill be upgraded in the rear for sure next trip and will go a little harder.

Nowhere near as hard and Chris did in his t4r. my god that was epic.

 

Yeah he had a badass T4R.

For everyone else, dude shows up with a 4 runner like Sams, except Dirt Designs LT up front pulling 19", and Dirt Designs Linked rear with coilovers and bypasses.

Wow, that looks sick. How was the rear shock situation? Bypasses and coilover? Through the body?

Hmm, that looks awesome, the links are mounted in almost exactly the same place as stock, so the links aren't any longer. The shocks aren't through the body, so they can't be much longer either, uppers look to be mounted in about the same place as mine. Would love to more know about this, is he on any forums?

Yeah the Coilovers looked suuuuper short. Like shorter than our OEM size. I'd imagine he's still pulling a good 20" at the wheel though. And he ripped off his muffler apparently so that V8 sounded mean lol

 

haha is that why he said "sorry about my exhaust" when i got in?! shit was loud

Were using a sequoia axle, all new mounts on the axle, new longer upper link, 16" travel with stock driveshaft, and bumped to run 35s

3 link with stock gas tank. New upper link mount on the passenger side makes the upper twice as long as factory

yes on panhard bar. Lowers are close to stock. All new mounts on the axle though.

Looks to be maybe a 10 or 12" bypass and 8 or 10" coilover. Pretty sick.

 

My eyeballs suck, thats why I'm not the shock expert

But anyhoo that thing was rippin' out there!!

I was keeping up ok, but I'm still nervous out in the dunes so I dont go balls to wall like he was. Mostly just following him and watching when he went down a slope. A couple times his suspension just ate up a drop while I was bottoming out. Need to tune more obviously

 

its the fastest i've ever gone for a lap around the dunes haha. he made them seem small.

 

Dude even the dunes he kept going down I was like...ehhhh I'll go around...and then peer pressure kicked in and I had to rock 2WD and follow him lol.
