2005 Bulletproof Taco: 1 Ton SAC

I posted in the wrong thread, thought I was in the BS thread. My appologies

 

Well after 6 years of sitting on a shelf, I put my Craptastic Fab Traction Bar kit together. I had scavenged the DOM for steering links during the SAC so I got more of that too. And SupraTT stole some of the bushings last leaf spring first-aid application on his truck, so yeah some are red and some are black who cares. Red bushings matter too.

A little slice and dice and weld on the cross-member:



Angle's just about right, lower bar sits about 1" lower than the driveshaft:

Moved the exhaust over a touch and threw a new "muffler" in as well for good measure since the old Flowmaster 50 was rotted through. Everything just fits between my driveshaft and y-collector.

Man its like driving a different truck. The rear is planted. Its amazing how much rear suspension movement was actually being induced by axle wrap :/

 

No I can be sure to get 'on her this weekend and not worry about breaking a leaf

It was a game changer when I installed it on my truck too. No more bouncing when everything loads, wraps, and unloads.

 

Well I got to put it to the test this weekend.

Went to Rausch Creek Off Road Park in Tremont PA for an event held by TW and Northeast Toyota Crawlers. Roughly 700 miles each way, in the truck

We left on Thursday night and drove about to Cleveland where we slept in the truck in a rest stop for about 3 hours. Never been to PA before so the obligatory photo:



We then continued straight to the park:



Found a few guys and headed out on the trails. Ran blacks and reds all day and evening. Basically every black hillclimb on the back side of the comp course. Including Jotter several times. Some random pics I collected from the interwebz:

 

Saturday we met up with some TW people and ran some easier trails with them for a few hours:











Then we headed into Rock Creek which is just a giant glacial deposit of rocks, really fun:

Then it decided to downpour so we took a little detour over to Centralia PA. IF you've never heard of it, look it up. Its a cool but eerie place.

We then headed back to Rausch for the raffle.

All in all an AWESOME trip. Other than the battery shitting itself halfway through the day Saturday the only thing we did was air down and back up each day. Easy solution, never shut the truck off.

So that's what we did, after the raffle saturday night we drove straight through back to IN and was home in time for church on Sunday morning

Truck is smooth as glass up to 82 then gets a slight vibe. MTR's are wonderful on the highway, traction bar rocked on and off the trails.

Another solid weekend in the books.

What's the details on Harlan in October Mark? I'd like to get the gang together for that if possible.

 

Awaiting final verification but its October 15-16th. I will mostlikely be there the 14th too.
