Jeep's gonna play in 2018 too.

I own a 2009 Challenger SRT, but not by choice. I'm not a fan of the interior bits and material but the chassis and drivetrain are way more powerful and refined that any Toyota I've driven.

    Competition is a wonderful thing.

Ford could simple give it a throw back like F100. This would still count in an F series calculation and improve average mpg for the series. Just a thought.

Look at the Aussie version. Last I heard it licked the venerable hilux.

That's my goal at the moment since my paid off Tundra is still a powerhouse of quiet luxury. But I'm happy to see Toyota is fixing these problems now.

Tundra or F150. I say this after 39K miles on my 2016 Tacoma.

Is it fair to say that the biggest issue/problem with the new generation is limited to the automatic transmission? What would be the biggest bugs found to date with respect to the manual?

ohhhh i dont know, lets try.....not being able to physically move the stick out of gear. Thats a pretty good one if you are coming up to a traffic jam and surprise, you can't downshift.

Thankfully, I can honestly say, I am not one of the ones with that problem. ~6k miles and my M/T is actually fine. If it wasn't for the manual transmission I can't say with 100% certainty that I would still own the truck.

Not sure since I, like many thousands of others that are not TW members, just don't have any problems.
The only thing if anything of concern to me is the CSP sensor failures mentioned here. They seem out of line in failure rate, we'll just have to wait and see.
Moreover, some of the ppl posting problems here are noobs to the truck/off-road world because is a fad now, and coming off their BMW's they are expecting to go off-roading from the get go.

For a list of bugs found to date, I recommend reading smitty99 postings, as he seems to have them all except for the CSP sensor, but give it time, his truck's been in the repair shop or at the stealership getting his transmission ATF lvl checked with no definitive answer as to weather is right or not, or last I can figure.

    Hope that helps
    Cheers!

IMO for the -.2 worth, if they're saying " We hear the roar, but is normal in TRD" It tells me the problem may be something else.
Think about, they've been making rear diff for ages and all of the sudden is normal??
I'm thinking it's the tires, I don't have a TRD but if I did, I would try a different set of tires and ck for noise. Or I would wait till I wear out the stock TRD tires and get some A/T tires. And if that don't work...I would consider myself #@$%&!!

You hear a noise, think it's a problem because its not familiar to you but is to the engineers who designed it but you don't agree ?
    Right.:annoyed:

When you can design one maybe we will listen.

Not quite but nice try. Our many of our trucks have been diagnosed with premature wear on the rear diff. The noise started quiet and got louder over period of 3000 to 12000 miles. So some are not hearing much yet but the sound has been getting louder in most cases this has led to replacement of rear diff. However now the replacement rear diff on several member trucks are starting to make the slight noise again....and getting louder with time and miles. So you see it appears toyota has a root cause impacting differentials and wearing them prematurely for early failure but no permanent fix identified.

Not quite but nice try. Do you know your warranty ? Its 36000. So by logic you are covered when it fails and needs replacement at only 12,0000.
So whats the problem ??? :angrygirl: It will fail 3 times in 36K ? Sure. And so will all the other 100,000's of people ?
Seems like you like to make problems.

If that's the case, all they would have to do is install the diff that's on the TRD sport as they don't seem to be suffering from that problem.

He's actually covered for 60k drive-train warranty, and 80k emissions warranty. Basically the only things not covered is A/C electric issues that don't affect emissions, so it's a pretty good warranty.

So I guess according to his logic then it will fail 60,000/12,000 or 5 times without a definite fix from Toyota. So 100,000 owners x 5 they will replace half a million diffs with no definite fix.
    :crazy::crazy::crazy:
    Got it.
He seems to be always very negative on every aspect of this truck. It's always doomsday.

If that's the case, Toyota will loose money on the deal lmaoo!

Not true all models have been affected so far. Where do you come up with this stuff? You're constantly pulling bullshit out of your ass.
