Fingers crossed as mine is in the TSB notice as well. My dealer on the island is hopeless, they just play the it must be your fault card, instead of trying to figure out the problem. The sales guys were great to deal with.

If you want it done your best bet is to call Toyota Canada and ask why they haven't stepped up to the plate. Say you have all the problems listed on the tsb and you want it done as you are not satisfied with the quality of the truck. There is clearly a recognized problem so why is Toyota Canada turning their head?

Yes, they usually are, but once they have your money (and I say this for most dealerships regardless of make) then they no longer know you.

There are a few dealerships who are not like that, and those should be supported.

Well, not quite "no longer know you". They seem to remember you after 3-5 years. Coincidentally, that's at the same time as when the vehicle is paid off.

Why doesn't anyone who lives by the border make a service appt at the nearest USA dealer and make a claim against the cost for the tsb? If it's really a nagging issue, get it done and then send the bill to Toyota Canada if the us dealer charges you.

If you're a snowbird in the us, I'm sure a us dealer will support you and vice versa. After all, many do 6mo and 6mo residency splits all the time.

Is EVERY Canadian owner experiencing these problems or just a small portion who also use the forums to spread the word? I'm a bit gun shy now pulling the trigger on a 2017 Tacoma after reading all these entries :(.

I love my Taco I came from 2 Honda Pilots and our family loved how solid and well loaded it was. Many camping trips and the 8 People it hauled sometimes was great. Did the Honda have quirks F Yes it did. Every vehicle has its own personality but we always see the positive and don't push it past its usefulness.

My point being after reading all the bitches on this website that IMO are just that bitches! There are far fewer serious complaints , than "I love my truck". The reputation Toyota has for building a damn solid car or truck convinced me nothing was going to stop me from trading in the Pilot and buying the truck regardless of what some of the people were whining about.

Does my truck have Howling - Don't know I upgraded the stereo and It sounds great.
Does my truck shift wierd - I Don't know but it drives better than the Pilot
Does the tranny and Engine combo mesh 100% - I don't know but it has shit loads more power for towing my trailer.
Does the Suspension Bounce and is not Car like . THANK GOD I BOUGHT A TRUCK NOT A SUV ! and it feels like a truck should.

Buy the truck love it and it will love you back!

I didn't buy my truck to make anyone but me happy. I LOVE HER, can't get enough! I have had my Tracy(v2) for 2 months now and I am at 5610km. Next month I'm putting around another 3000km on a road trip out to the west coast and I can't wait!

I picked up my truck in December. I've got 8000 kms on it right now and I am not experiencing any of the problems I've seen on the forums. I'm really happy with it so far.

I have 20k on mine already n I love it. The tranny will get sorted out, theres already a tune up for it out there. I expected this on a new gen with new engine amongst other things. The kinks should all be worked out by the 17's... Pull the trigger you wont regret it

Just get a manual transmission, it is SWEET!! No issues with my Taco, at 11,000 km.

Though a very new owner (1100 km since last Thursday) of a double cab Sport V6 with a manual transmission, I have to admit that I'm more than impressed with my Tacoma.

My previous truck was a Ranger and I didn't realize how much better of a ride I would get with a longer wheelbase and larger tires.

I'm 6'3" and there is ample head and leg room for me. In fact, I don't even have the seat back as far as it can go.

The storage units under the back seat are handy for jumper cables and the block heater cord.

I was getting 9.7 l/100k on the highway yesterday --- better than I expected.

The only minor complaint I have so far is that the satellite radio has more signal issues on this truck than my Ranger did. Driving down the same roads, in a few spots (due to trees) the signal is lost longer than it was in my Ranger. I'm wondering if that is because my Ranger had Sirius and the Tacoma is XM? Even though they have merged, perhaps they still use different satellites in orbit?

Maybe I'll have some issues in the future (hope not!) but so far this truck has exceeded my expectations.

I love my truck too. The shifting is a little off but it's not too bad that I can't still enjoy my truck. There is a fix out there for it so some of us Canadians are trying to push for it. If I can make my truck even better why would I not go for it right?

I've been watching reviews or comparisons on YouTube recently and they actually said the Tacoma shifts much better and smoother than the Colorado. So maybe we are just spoiled?

As far as all the other options on the truck go, I love it. I wouldn't trade my 15 back for my 16. Plus if you get it and somehow end up not liking it its a Tacoma, check out the resale value on it!

    Of course love your truck…duh.
Complaints on a forum are normal…it's a forum. It's where people go to sort out their issues.

Love your truck, makes no difference to me. This is my FIFTH Tacoma, and by far most expensive yet, and it has given me the most grief. Am I complaining too much, not really.
But it will be my last one.

Note that the new 2017s and even later 2016s (I think somebody said post-july 2016s) will come stock with this update applied already.

I'm quite happy with my truck even though I am experiencing minor symptoms of some of these complaints. It's not that it's bad, I just feel it could be better. I'm going to keep pursuing the TSB thing with my service manager, but I'm honestly not in a huge rush.

I'm shy about how much I like mine. I'm going to wash the paint off at the rate I'm washing it after blasting thru the mud at constructions sites. Get all the packages you want. That's key. Also don't get the packages that you would rather do yourself like tires and suspension.
    Welcome.
