I agree just not much of "downsize" from a 250. I'd own something bigger than a 250 before considering getting a grom as another bike

Small bikes are fun. I've had waaaaay more fun and done more questionable stuff on my scooter than I thought possible.

And I'm not saying scooters are bikes, but it's been fun for very little money

So true. I filled up with gas a week ago for $1.66 and have driven only the Honda to and from work and haven't needed gas yet!

Sounds like a great way to be late to work! And there aren't too many trails in the city for me to get distracted with

fun thread! I use to race a supermoto crf 450r a couple years ago. A couple AMA rounds in Fontana and STTAR's. Also owned a Husky 510 for street duty, just to fuck with liter bikes on the street :D

I was looking at a 250L for commuting and some dirt trails, or to tow with the truck to spots to offroad. Looks fun! down side would be the suspension though, right?

Depends on your weight I guess. I'm only 120lbs without gear and the rear shock is fine without any adjustment. The front forks however are super soft. I can bottom them out pretty easily on jumps.

It's a great bike, but if you're wanting something small and in the 250cc range I suggest looking at the WR250R. Lighter, more power, and has slightly better suspension stock. That being said, with the extra money you'd spend on a WR over the CRF, you could build a decent 250L with better suspension and power upgrades.

Yeah the stock suspension leaves a woeful amount to be desired, but it did okay the day I spent exploring on my uncle's CRF.

A magazine did a build on one and did some suspension work that I remember being pretty cheap. Race-Tech comes to mind but I many be wrong.

You could get Racetech internals and a stiffer rear spring for about $500 or so if you do it yourself IIRC.

I think I'm going to send my forks to Racetech so I can get them powdercoated black as well and then buy their replacement rear coilover if I end up doing it. Just depends on how much dirt riding I end up doing when I move. Because right now with mostly street riding the stock suspension is good enough.

Yeah, I'm sure if I road one with upgraded suspension I'd want it right now. But luckily I'm still oblivious to how bad my suspension is haha

10x over. Be surprised how much of a difference it makes in how a bike handles itself

You only changed the rear spring though, right?

My rear shock isn't really that bad with my weight. I've bottomed it out maybe once, and that was because I was being stupid. If I want a stiffer spring rate I'll just adjust the collar some for now. The front is where the suspension it terrible in my opinion.

Yea only the rear. The rear was stupid soft for my weight which made the front seem too stiff. Suspension is some of the best money you'll ever spend. I had my CBR setup by an ex-pro and it was night/day difference of how the bike handled.
