i just wanted to say thanks to everyone here who was supportive in helping answering questions and giving me laughs this summer. Yes, I'm the same guy who traded the Ford F-150 for taco. Well, I've now dumped my taco for a new Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and couldn't be happier. Always wanted a Jeep but never really thought I could afford a new one. I actually owe less on my new Jeep than I did on my taco. So, when people say it can't be done, don't listen. So yes, 3 different new vehicles owned this summer. This is coming from a guy who generally drives cars until the wheels fall off.

I kept trying to tell myself and others I loved my taco, but that was bs, I didn't. I'm in no way bashing tacos and I really don't want to turn this into a taco vs. jeep thread. I personally feel a big reason my taco sucked is because the 3" lift and 285/70/17 tires and wheels. Drove like crap, even after tsb done, mine wasn't there. I was in dealership 7 hours, unacceptable. Other new taco owners here are not that happy either considering how much they paid. Before anyone starts bashing wranglers, go look at owners reviews online compared to taco owners. Maybe the 2016 tacoma's will kick ass, I won't be driving one to find out.

All I do know is my jeep is way more fun to drive, transmission is smooth, gets up hills fairly easy, and can easily accommodate bigger tires and wheels. I will miss this forum even though it's only been a few weeks. For all of you who are happy now, i truly am happy for you and hope it continues, but for some of you who aren't the good news is if you work it right and make phone calls before entering any dealer and demand out the door pricing and talk up trade, you might be surprised.

Good to hear you're happy! I come from a long line of many enthusiast-heavy autos (Volkswagen GTI, Mazda Miata, Subaru WRX, and now Toyota Taco) so I certainly won't be one of those kool aid drinkers who gets all butt-hurt.

You know, I've always been interested in a Wrangler too, but I've only ever seen 2 types of reactions to them. People either LOVE them or HATE them. Like there's no one I've ever met who has said "my Wrangler is... OK!"

I had a 2008 Wrangler X. By the time the odometer clicked over 20,000 miles it was burning 3 quarts of oil every 5000 miles. Jeep claimed this is perfectly normal. It didn't smoke, didn't run bad but it burned a hell of a lot of oil. I did not feel that was normal and got rid of it. I love Wranglers but I despise Chrysler build quality. That was my second Chrysler product and I won't ever own another one. The first one was a Dodge Dakota and it was problematic as well. I later found out that oil consumption in the 3.8 V6 was very common and apparently attributed to workers at the engine assembly plant not staggering the gaps in the piston rings. I hope the OP is happy with his Jeep and I wish him all the best but personally I'd have kept the Tacoma.

Couple of coworkers and friends own wranglers. They are obsessed. I'm not going to lie, they are a ton of fun. Mods are just as endless Jeeps as the Tacos. I think the reason that they are both great is because they are just built simple and tough.

They are both great platforms to make your hairs fall of while you make up your mind on what's the next mod you're going to add to the.

Yea, they changed a lot from 2012-present. Completely different engine. Again, good reviews by many owners today. I certainly wouldn't compare a Jeep Wrangler to a Dodge Dakota in any way. Don't be fooled by Chrysler, Jeeps been string for long time. They have loyal following like Tacoma fir a reason, they are damn durable.

The aftermarket for the Wrangler is easily the most expansive and varied aftermarket of any vehicle on the market. I actually had some clown of a moderator on a Ford forum once try and tell me that the Mustang aftermarket was bigger than the Wrangler aftermarket. He's a complete moron and the typical sort of die hard Ford fan you find moderating a Ford forum. Put a Quadratec catalog down next to an American Muscle catalog and then try and tell me that the Mustang aftermarket is bigger. The Jeep's aftermarket covers everything from doors, bumpers, fenders and roof racks to grill guards, alternative tops, seat covers and storage units. It is easily far more expansive than the Mustang aftermarket by orders of magnitude, and I'm a Mustang owner.

True there! I will say the Jeep mods are far more than Tacoma. It's overwhelming, but really exciting. I have my one year game plan already.

Absolutely. Love Mustangs as well. But yea, Wrangler aftermarket is insane. Extreme terrain.com is a really fun site, as long as you have money to drop.

Chrysler power train is Chrysler power train regardless of brand or model. That 3.8 V6 was used across the three brands in a variety of models. The same is true for the current V6. I hope they have it sorted out but I'll never trust Chrysler again.

We solve the dilemma by owning one of each ...lol. We had two built Jeeps but that was just silly. The Taco caught our attention and I'm super glad we got a new one last year. Love the versatility and smooth drive of our lifted and modded DCLB.

I like the Jeeps too. They hold their value almost as well as the Toyotas. I just hope you purchased the extended warranty.

I went from a 12 wrangler to my current tacoma. I really liked my wrangler and had very little trouble in the 4 years I had it, but the jk forum paranoia (much like the TW paranoia) got to me. I miss it at times, mostly because it was almost paid off. I'll be eyeing the new jeep truck when it rolls out. Good luck op. Life is too short to be unhappy with anything. Make the most of it!

    Doesn't seem like that's a Toyota flaw..........

Thank you for being every salesman's dream while doing your part to keep the economy moving!

    Enjoy the Jeep.

Whatever you say. I owe less money on my loan today than I did with the taco. Both brand new. But according to you I lost my shirt.

Yea, I've been on the wrangler forum and I will say people b**** a lot no matter where you go, but I will also say the negativity here at least on the 3rd gen forum far exceeds the wrangler forum, not even close.
