Talk to Dean at Toyota West in Columbus, OH. You order exactly what you want, take $3,000 off MSRP, and you are done. It could not have been easier.

I just went back and looked at my sales invoice for my '16 DCSB 4X4 TRD Sport.
MSRP plus tax was almost exactly $40,000.
I was out the door for $36 even.

I shopped 5 dealers hard for 4 days, after I was rear ended in my '06, which was totaled. :(
    Multiple phone calls, email, etc.
In the end I got what I wanted. Stay firm with what you want to pay, (after your research) and don't be afraid to walk away. I did. They called me back.

And, don't believe them when they say, "the truck you want is not available."

They tried hard to sell me one off the lot. It wasn't what I wanted. I walked, and then they traded for exactly what I wanted. It took only four days.

What was the sale price? I ask because tax and all is different depending on where you live.

500 over invoice, which I think was about 36500 IIRC no trade so paid full taxes like 8%

I can understand most of you would not think of it, but Hawaii is a distinct region. Anyone with a Hawaii address who tries to buy on the mainland will be shown the door. (It's not just Toyota, I know Subaru does the same, and I assume other makes also create virtual monopolies for their Hawaii dealerships.) I expected to be seriously gouged, but thanks to the Costco auto program I thought I did okay even though the Tacoma was officially excluded from the program. The dealer sold me the SR5 4x4 for $1500 over invoice, and said that was standard for any Toyota bought through the Costco program, so I paid roughly $1000 under MSRP. No unwanted options, either.

Check out Midstate Toyota out of Asheboro. Work with Shauna. You won't be disappointed.
