2016 superchargers

Are we talking about superchargers or rear ends, I think the topic was superchargers!

 

Just a quick question didn't they Tacoma have one 2015 sorry to step on your post

 

yes, the 2015 tacoma has an optional TRD supercharger. That is the last year of the second generation tacoma. 2016 is the first year of the 3rd generation tacoma (which has a different engine) so the older superchargers will not fit.

 

The general consensus seems to be that you can't squeeze much out of these engines.

 

I heard some folks having success with Redline gear oil in quieting it down. Now that mines documented I may try that.

When I was just at the dealership the sales guy showed me an options page on his computer, and had a trd supercharger listed for the 2gr. It was something like 7k installed.
Anyone else heard of this? I was skeptical until he showed me it.

Just stating what I saw. I called bullshit, he turned his monitor, right there it was listed with our engine model, and hp/torque specs.

 

What were the specs?

Off the top of my head I think around 320's. This was about 3 weeks ago I don't remember exactly.

 

I really want to believe you...but the trd supercharger has been discontinued. Next time you go there take a picture his screen with it up or something haha.

 

Haha I know! That's why I freaked when he said it and I made him show me. I've got his number, wonder if he'll reply to a text and send a pic.

 

That wouldn't hurt...worst that can happen is he won't respond. I would be surprised if he does unless you are friends with him, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Another thing to remember is he is a salesman...meaning he will do whatever he can to sell cars. Wouldn't believe everything he says.

I was there picking up a tundra that my company purchased, and I own a '16. I was shooting the shit with him waiting, so I was seeing what accessories were available on my Tacoma and boom there it was. We were both freaking out. It was like a dealers page, a lot of other things I saw that ive never seen on the Toyota website. I'll give it a shot tomorrow and see if he responds.
