ok decided to stop derailing other member's threads with my turkey tales and make my own.

story starts with my roommate calling me in a panic because someone keyed up his 15 wrx. both sides, all 4 doors. that night checking it out, the marks were very odd but deliberate. somewhat laughed it off until i walked past my tailgate. similar marks but only on my tailgate. by this point im furious and trying to think hard about who was mad at me. scourned ex's? punk teens? grumpy neighbors? happened to our vehicles right in the middle of a condo complex and that many scratches took time right? someone had balls.

the next day im angrily buffing my tailgate for hours. after maybe 3 hours by hand it got to an acceptable level and i went in to wash out bucket and i see a flock of turkeys wander by. nothing unusual, i see maybe a dozen a day usually hanging around the general area of my next door neighbor's bird feeders.

and then it happens. while walking between the vehicles, the largest turkey quickly flares up at the corner of my neighbors car and begins to attack it. i dont mean poofing feathers, the damn thing biting at the car and jump/flying up and kicking the car with its spurs. i ran out the door and chased it away. spoke to nh fish and game, town PD, exterminators, condo association, neighbors, hunters etc. trying to figure out what i can do. made many people laugh, got nowhere.

now i chase them away when i see that one big turkey, but have had neighbors call police on me multiple times for harassing them. from what i can tell, the turkeys were in mating season and territorial. it only attacked the most reflective flat surfaces like my tailgate but not sides of tacoma because they are curved and rubberized. opposite with the 15 wrx, slab sides got wrecked, curvy bumpers untouched.

Air rifle - aim for the eye ... shoot em in the head. Then call me to come over and "dispose" of the critter properly.

They are attacking the reflection ... critters are territorial and in the woods there aren't any reflections.

from what ive gathered, pellet guns have next to no laws regarding where they can be used other than the obvious ones(school, court etc). the real issue is the turkeys dont really leave the condo complex so even a bow is out of the question. buuuuutttt... i honestly believe i could chase one down and either wring its neck or behead the sucker with a machete or rambo knife. might traumatize the neighborhood children but hey, gotta learn about life eventually. i do know i cannot harm them outside of season, so i wait, research and smack my lips every time i see that big tom. i expect to have him for thanksgiving. and id be willing to bet thats the best tasting turkey ive ever had.

Toms (male turkeys) are extremely aggressive towards other Toms. Don't suppose this happened during spring time? That is when they are especially aggressive toward other Toms. He saw his reflection and obviously decided some other Tom was trying to move in on his harem of hens.... so he initiated the beat down mode. Offroad your truck more. The dust will eliminate the reflection. On second thought it's black right? Just don't wash it for about 2 days....you should be fine. :D

Absolutely not true. Many cities classify them as standard firearms.

Source - When I was 18 I was arrested for discharging a "firearm" within the city limits. Was shooting cans and glass bottles behind my buddies house with a pellet gun. Almost stopped me from joining the military.

yeah i dont trust the info i got. even though it came straight from LE, they seemed doubtful, contradicting and confused but told me a pellet gun would be in a similar class as a paintball gun, airsoft gun or nerf gun(atleast in NH).

Good luck catching him... they can fly for 20-30 yards or so. Probably TOWARDS you to stab YOU in the eyes. Pellet gun .177 cal or a .22 cal with anything over say 600fps should get it done. SOME big cities, pellet guns are illegal but not that many.

I happen to live in a city where they are banned (clearly a 2nd amendment issue). We practice on our first floor windows open... lets the birds know whats what in case they want to wake me up at 3am, say a mocking bird. Once they hear the air gun they move along and don't come back. Suspect the turkeys will do the same. If not well shoot them from the window... I'd be having turkey dinner starting with that big ass Tom there in the pics.
