Can you guys let me know if this happens to your 2016's as well?

I typically downshift when coming to a stop so I'm in gear as long as possible. So, coming to a light, corner, stop sign etc, I'll go from 3 to 2 and use engine braking to slow me down. The shift from 3-2 is fine, and i start slowing down. However, with either my foot on the brake or off the brake completely, the truck bucks/jolts randomly as it passes a certain point slowing down. It seems to happen somewhere around 1600 RPM, but can be a little random. I've had it happen between 8 mph and 14 mph. I do not drive in 2nd gear below 8 mph.

It feels like the engine braking builds in intensity as it approaches "the point" and then there is a release, the truck slightly jolts/bucks/makes a clank sound (the typical clank/clunk sound the Tacomas make) then the engine braking ceases for a second, then continues. But by the time its over, I am ready to push the clutch in. It happens at much too high of an RPM for me to be lugging the engine.

It can really throw me off when I'm coming to a sharp corner or driving in stop and go traffic because my acceleration rate changes, its like the engine braking disappears for a second. The feeling at "the release" feels the same as if you were to shift from, say 1 to 2, but dump the clutch a little early and make the truck jolt back and forth.

I can't see what I would be doing wrong because it happens when I'm completely off the clutch and I either have no foot on any pedal or I'm only on the brake.

Is this happening to anyone else or has anyone else experienced this in another manual transmission vehicle?

That is the point where it kicks out of Deceleration Fuel Cut Off DFCO and starts giving it gas again.

Buy it. The resale value would be insane. It is a 1 in 150000. And how many on this site have begged for this truck.

Finally back to this...totally missed the photos before (damn adult beverages). Anyone buy this thing yet? If I weren't moving and in the middle of buying house, I'd make the drive to this dealership to buy this truck! It'd be totally worth it for braggin' rights alone.

I feel like I have experienced this a few times. I'll try to pay more attention next time to see if it's like you described. If I recall, it's only happened when the car is cold.

Maybe Toyota is sneakily starting these into production? My luck though is if they do offer it, it will only be in the Sport trim. Maybe they listened to my petition I started. :D https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/dclb-manual-transmission-petition.403712/

It's bogus. He used a stock image from a long bed and pix from a short bed interior. Just texted me these images from dealer lobby.

At higher rpm and engine braking the engine stops injecting fuel, know as Deceleration Fuel Cut Off or DFCO. The transition out of DFCO sounds like what AERO90 was describing.

I'd rather have the DCSB TRD off road that we can't get here.
