It's worth it for sure. Can it be beat? That depends on the individual. I see features I like in the OEM and aftermarket ones and features I don't like in both. I like the fact that the OEM gets the full width of the bed as opposed to the one @Swiftks posted.

They all have pluses and minuses but the price makes the OEM a bargain in my eyes.

Totally agree. OEM is worth it when considering bang for your buck. I ended up getting the Bakflip MX4 though because I like the flush fit and finish better.

I just bought an Extang Trifecta a few days ago. I've not had a trifold cover before and I'm happy with it.

Extang has a rebate offer for some models ($50 in Canada --- dunno how much in the U.S.) that ends, I think, July 31.

I was planning to getting a canopy for my new Tacoma, but the one I bought had a factory tonneau cover. I like it very much. Seems well constructed, looks good and gives much better visibility out the back than with a canopy. Now that I have it I realize I didn't really need a canopy for $2000+. I've had one on my previous 3 trucks and had never considered a tonneau cover. Glad the new Tacoma came with one!

mine seals just fine, you have to close the tailgate first then the tonneau and press on the two back corners until you hear them click. so far no water in the bed

How about the cut outs in the bed protector for the pins, are the poorly done? Pics? The factory all said and done will ~$600 installed, looks like aftermarket will run average $800-$900 before install. Factory seems like a no brainer, no?

If you plan to haul a lot of cargo, a roll-up cover is pretty user-friendly. I have mine rolled up just about every time I go to Lowes

The factory one is the way to go... warranty & dealer support. Price is reasonable compared to some of the other ones.

I too am deciding if I should get the OEM or aftermarket tonneau cover. I want access to the front panel which I am not sure if the OEM has that feature ( does anyone know?). I also think its piss poor that Toyota doesn't have automatic locks for the tailgate. PITA to use a key to lock and unlock the tailgate!

I have the OEM one and like it. I do think it's overpriced though. That said, it works as advertised and does not seem to leak (at least not yet).

I have the OEM one and I like it. For ~$580 (invoice) in cost and warrantied with the truck, I felt it was worth it for me.

I don't think you're going to get a definitive answer since the choice is very subjective and depends to some extent on individual uses of the bed.

No kidding!! How did we ever survive without auto-locking tailgates under our tonneau covers!? Life must have been impossible back before these things.

I ordered my 2017 with the Tailgate Power Lock. The tailgate locks and unlocks with the doors from the remote. Port installed option I believe. At least in Southeast Toyota.
