I will keep my money in the bank until toyota proves they can get this drive train shit under wraps. Pretty significant component failure to have two rear diffs go bad. Thousands of dollars if had paid to fix. Throw your money around as you wish! Maybe you won't have any of these issues.

Im lucky that i dont have problems with my truck. Im soo happy with it and i would buy it again... Now that you heard about the problems, on your test drive, pay attention to the tranny and gears... Ask to check the tranny fluid before you leave the lot and to do the upgrade TBS on the tranny..

Rear diff assembly is over $1000 almost every vendor if you google price the part number. Labor is another $500 plus.

Yes before. Not after I saw the 2017 Ford Raptor. All aluminum military grade body, single forge frame specifically built for raptors, powerful ecoboost engine, Baja mode, 10 speed transmission, magnesium paddle shifters, a foot and a half wider body, beadlock wheels, fully digital gauges, torsion front differentials, intelligent terrain management system, the new 2nd gen raptor is just all new... I like everything about it except the price. Spec'-ed one out recently, came upto $66K before taxes. Pretty high up there. You could buy a Mercedez C350 w. that kindof money.

At this time I would say no I have had the truck had about 2 months now.Maybe I shouldn't have bought SR a little on the cheap side I think,I wish the truck would have came with interment wipers instead of GoPro camera mount that I will never use and probably a lot of other people won't use.

I got real lucky with mine, I had a Hemi burn to the ground and first day on the Toyota Lot they had a DCLB SR5 4x4 Barcelona Red on the lot. I didn't want any other options beside the tow package so it worked out well. Long beds are short supply around here. Plus the Red is hot as hell.

So, at almost 100 replies to the OP's question, we have ~55 yes, absolutely or 100% answers, 5 no answers and several I didn't count either way because they were vague. From these initial responses, it seems an overwhelming majority here are happy with their 3rd Gen trucks. No doubt there are outliers with issues, no denying that, but it does show that these issues are fewer than it would seem if you only browse the 3rd Gen post titles. Every 3rd Gen post about the truck has the same folks who report their issues and that can make the issue appear to be more widespread than they are. I hate that anyone has an issue with the vehicle they are paying hard-earned money for and I hope your trucks get fixed to your liking. But, for me at least, these response put my mind at ease that the 3rd Gen truck issues are not as pervasive as it originally seemed from other posts and responses.

    OP, a poll would help.

Before buying my Taco I hadn't got to the point of researching on forums, I hadn't actually planned on buying it when I did, plan had been to go test drive one along with the Canyon. All my research to that point had been auto blogs and online car mag articles. Had I come here and saw all the topics of people having issues I would of been much more hesitant to buy and may of been steered toward the GM. So far mines been trouble free, certainly sucks for any of the people who have been having ongoing issues.

Actually data gets skewed on a forum that consists primarily of enthusiasts. I can't imagine what a 'real world' margin for error would be but it would be pretty damned high.

If the OP wants to research, they have to look here and outside for additional responses. NHTSB boards, credible automotive review resources etc.

I get what you're saying, but I was just referring to those who answered here. No way it's a scientific poll but it represents a lot of the active 3rd gen owners I've seen in other threads. No doubt there are other topics up for discussion (I laugh every time I see, "what lift?" or "any rubbing?"), but people having issues show up in almost every thread from What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen to this one.
