leave it in the sun for a day; get a leaf blower and then grease the crap out of it.

Use a "sand blaster" on it. Maybe they'll warranty the paint too

On the real though, what were you planning on telling the Service Writer to get him to say "Yep, we'll fix that under warranty."? I genuinely want to know.

I guess if you washed the truck really well, got every spec of sand out of any spot they can look, you could try to say it was acting weird when you just opened it for the first time. I'm not saying to do that, that's fraud, I'm just saying that is one path someone could try to take. Not sure if it would work since I'm sure they don't see people with sand in their lube often.

Except you signed off on a working truck when you drove it off the lot. Remember the checklist that you neglected to fully exercise yourself?

Yeah, but you gotta remember that there are folks who didnt even realize the Tacoma was too small for them until a few thousand miles on the ODO (didnt bother to do a test drive further than the dealership loop). Never know.
All I got was a certified pre-owned checklist which the dealer never submitted after the sale and somehow lost when I had the trans output seal leak fixed.

OP, just ask them real nice, preferably while getting other service done. They may charge you, they may not. I've had pretty good luck with stuff like that (for instance, the tracks for the power sliding doors on the minivan). I would expect to pay and consider it a bonus if they do it free.
