Movie/TV review or what have you seen lately?--- "Top 10" of all time?

I just watched "Into The Forest" and if you liked a movie like "Hidden", you will want to check it out. This movie really shows how quickly things deteriorate when, the things we take for granted in our modern society aren't there. Just a solid movie, but not a great movie. The cast work well and made you care about them and makes you question how you would react, if it happen to you.

 

E.T. isn't a robot...spoiler alert?

I haven't ever seen Short Circuit either but I'm only 28 so most of those 80s movies missed me...

 

LOL....you are right now that I think about it....see I told you I never watched the movie. I think from the deep reaches of my mind, the first robot I realized I could have feelings for was the robot from "Lost in Space"....."DANGER ALERT...DANGER ALERT....WILL ROBINSON"

I guess on the reverse side of caring, any robot from the "Terminator" series must go on that list, as would the genetically engineered replicants, from the movie "Blade Runner".

What Robots would make your all evil list?

 

I really disliked Blade Runner!

Good - C3PO, R2D2, Wall-E, BB-8, TARS/CASE (interstellar), anytime Arnold was a good guy in Terminator movies, all Autobots, CHAPPiE...

Bad - Arnold when he isn't good in Terminators, Decepticons (mainly Megatron), David (Prometheus), Ava (Ex Machina), Ultron...

Edit - by bad, I mean evil. I liked all those robots and their evilness...

 

You have great lists from over the years and mine would be similar, but one I forgot, that you included was Ultron.

As I was typing my reply, a robot I forgot to include was from the movie Westworld. The robot "The Gunslinger" (Yul Brynner), was the first robot I can remember watching and think it was pure evil. It's funny when you are young those memories stick with you forever. I think after sending this message I might just see if it is available to watch again.

 

Funny you mention that. I've never heard of that movie but was looking forward to a new HBO series by the same name due out later this year. Just checked and it is in fact a remake/reboot of that movie. I'll have to check it out now before I watch that show...

 

It's funny, when I searched that movie title the HBO reboot came first on the search results. Now I understand why, that's cool and I hope they do right by the original. Now that is one reboot I'm looking forward to see and with the special effects now, it will take the original to a different level. When I watched it in 1973, special effect were so basic, but I can remember being blown away, because this cowboy I have been watching isn't human, when his humanness comes off and it was a little disturbing at my young age...hahahahahaha.

 

Yeah, definitely do that because it will enhance your experience, seeing the reboot. I want to rewatch Westworld and see if it still has the effects I felt when watching it so long ago. I remember Yul Brynner playing his role to perfection (maybe too well) and was kind of creepy because I was fooled by his great acting and just an overwhelming presence he gave that character, he definitely made that movie. The guys a legend is my book...

 

I just checked out the cast for the HBO version of Westworld and all I have to say is

 

Bishop - aliens good
Ash - alien bad

 

Also hated the shark robot in Jaws.

 

Jaws wasn't portrayed as a robot in that movie, so I wouldn't officially count that, but I know what you mean.

 

What about irobot?

 

Good call - I love that movie. Add Sonny to my good list and all the rest to my bad

 

D.A.R.Y.L. is my favorite Robot/Android/Cyborg how ever you want to classify him.

 

Thats a good choice to add to the all evil list. At first I thought you didn't like how your irobot was vacuuming, but it takes more to make the all evil list, then bad suction. I guess if they ever did make a movie about an irobot, we could call it "The Rumble with a Roomba" or "The suction that Sucks You Out".

 

Technically it is "I, Robot"...

 

Watched the Clint Eastwood version of Escape from Alcatraz the other night. Not sure how much it is based on fact but it had my attention. I kinda like those movies though. Got my curiosity piqued about the jailbreak. The history channel did a piece in 2015 on the two brothers that escaped. Appears that they are still alive.
