I have a pro deal with big agnes so I got it pretty cheap. It also just serves my needs well. Mainly for backpacking and overnight excursions.

I just picked up this r.e.i air rail 1.5 self inflating sleeping pad. I was wanting the Thermarest extra light sleeping pad but with the reviews and the 25% off that REI just sent out via email I figured this will be good for now and then use it later on for a back up or one I can let friends borrow on weekend trips.:bananadance:

Just a heads up anyone that has a Big Agnes Copper Spur DO NOT put it away even a little wet. The orange will bleed on to the grey and then you have this awkward tie dye thing going on. Big Agene said they would send me a new fly when they had them in stock.

    1. I have not tried any of the fancy, overpriced coolers. (I have no real need for one.)
    2. Many times large chains (Cabelas, REI...) will partner with major brands (for a fee) and have the manufacturer make the exact same product for them with the store logo. Keen makes many of LlBeans branded footwear. REIs clothing is many times Marmot, Patagonia and TNF... With only minor details different.

I don't know if that's the case here but if you can put 2 side by side, it would be pretty easily seen.

I saw those today when I was at Cabelas. I'm wondering, whats with the hype of these types of coolers? they are obviously popular since Cabelas has joined the group of companies making them along with pelican and rtic. the cabelas cooler boasts 12 days of ice retention. does anyone really camp for 12 days? and if so, I wanna come!!! I have never been camping for more than 4 or 5 days.

I don't camp for that long, but I've been on many a backpack trip that is! But hell if I'm lugging a cooler! ;)

Durability. They're built a lot better than your "normal" cooler. Are they 5x-10x as good though, eh..

I'm fairly certain they are the same cast. They even use the same closing mechanism/latch.

I don't think it's so much the duration of the trip as much as it is the opening and closing frequency. No one keeps it closed for 12 days but you can make a good guess as to how long the ice will last.

I normally bring raw food for the first day to cook then just simple stuff that doesn't have to be kept cold for the rest of the days. But I never go out more than a handful of days anyway lol

Plus it's way easier to boil 2cups of water and rehydrate some beefy mac than it is to cook stuff then clean up

Just looked at a friends RTIC. looks exactly same same as a Yeti and for way cheaper. Think I'm going to go that route. Going camping this week with the fam, should be fun but hot, hopefully do a lil fishing too!

I'm not an ultralight camper/hiker by any means. I enjoy vehicle camping and I'm a camping food snob. Lol. For example, I made cheesesteaks on the last trip. :D

I need to keep that stuff cold. The OG styrofoam coolers actually work great. Sealing them is difficult, though.

9mm works well against 2 legged critters.

If you're looking to use it as 4 legged defense, look at 10mm options for pistols or 44mag for revolver.

    also bear mace.

Good points. My thing is that I would like to carry most of the time though and I can only afford one. Out east the biggest animal worry is a black bear for the most part.
