Decided to take the wife on a much needed getaway at the end of September. We usually head south to Tennessee but this time decided to go north since we have never been into the upper part of Michigan.
Just looking for any tips you may have about Mackinaw City, Mackinac Island or Sault Ste Marie area ... we plan on staying 3-nights in Mackinaw City and another night up around Sault Ste Marie
    • Any "must see" things (i know the Mackinac bridge lol)
    • Any great restaurants you recommend
    • Best place to try a beef Pasty for the first time
    • Fun things to do around the area
    • Mackinac island .. can you spend several hours there? Lots of shops and stuff to see?
THANKS in advance for any suggestions, i appreciate it

2 days is probably plenty on the island, unless you want to get wasted and have no chance to get a DUI. Don't speed on your bicycle, you can get a ticket.

My favorite place as a kid:

I think there is a micro-brew pub and bison burger joint there now too.

There is a train that goes way into Canada from the Canadian Sault Ste Narie side, it's definitely worth doing especially if you time the fall colors:

Its been a while since I've been, so that's all I have for now.

We won't have passports so the Canadian side is out .. thanks for the suggestions, that
Tahquamenon Falls State Park looks very neat and we may have to check that out.
We are staying in a motel in Mackinaw City for a couple nights so we will spend 1 day checking out the island and probably a day checking out Mackinaw City .. then head nort into the UP

    THANKS !

I have always wanted to drive across the big Mac bridge. Have a great safe time. Sounds like fun.
