Memes are great but we're not trying to bash the guy. Just trying to educate and fellow TW member.

I will admit it is a funny one.

I agree with you for the most part. However, this dude is always arguing and spouting off BS. Any time I see him do it now, I call him out on it.

How about Penzoil Platinum or Penzoil Ultra Platinum? Both seem to have good reviews, with the Ultra getting touted really hard.

I've used them and like them too. Pennzoil as a whole tends to make good oil.

I wonder if there is much difference between the Platinum and Platinum Ultra.

Negligible, I'm sure both are great and maybe the ultra lets you get by for longer OCI's...but for me since I do 5,000 mile intervals I don't really care.

I used Mobile 1 for a long time, but when my Subie started using oil I switched to Pennzoil Platinum at someone's recommendation. It slowed the rate of consumption down, but did not eliminate it. I now use Pennzoil in all my vehicles, including the Taco, and seems to do well.

BTW, the Subie is now in the middle of getting an oil consumption test done by the dealer.

I'm thinking of using it, (0W-20) in my 2016 along with a Fram oil filter.

Try it man. It's a good oil. My dad's used Pennzoil for a long time and liked it.

I recommend a different filter though...perhaps a Bosch for a Premium STP filter.

Yeah I have used Pennzoil since the early 1980's. This is my 1st Toyota and I was going to use Mobil 1 along with there oil filter. I have never had any problems with Pennzoil or Fram oil filters. I'll see if there is that much of a price difference when I get my oil changed in November. It would take me several years to get 10,000 or even 5,000 miles on my truck so the dealership told me to get it changed once a year seeing how I don't drive it much.

I've got a 2004 RC 4X$ with the 2.7. It's speced for 5-30. I run 10-30 but I run Amsoil. The difference in cold temp performance between their 5-30 and their 10-30 is only about 3 degrees. It does get well below zero here where I live and I haven't had a problem with starting.

I've suspected for years that these ultra thin oils are being recommended for one reason. To satisfy the ridiculous CAFE standards. However, I'd say it is wise to follow the manufacturers recommendations. My 2.7 calls for 5-30 and I run 10-30 in it but I run Amsoil. My thought is that it's wise to follow the manufacturers advice on oil weight for your climate for at least the first 100,000 miles. The Ford V-10 engine recommends the real light weight stuff but once it hits 100,000 miles the thin is too thin and it's best to go a little heavier. That's what I've read concerning that particular engine. Things start wearing eventually and a thicker oil protects better IMHO. That's why I run the 10-30 in mine and it gets downright cold where I live here in Wyoming. No problems with the 10-30 from what I see. Even at 10 below. I am running a full sythetic though which makes a huge difference in extreme cold. Once I get well past 200,000 I may go to a 0-40.

You're right about the CAFE standards. Those standards need to be scrapped. At least most of them. They aren't really doing anything for the environment and they've gotten a whole lot of people killed since they started forcing manufacturers to follow them.

    FAITH is irrational.
    FACT is measurable.

That makes my statement FACT, because I *MEASURED* it.

Awesome comeback a month and a half later.

Whatever you measured doesn't jive with measured data provided already. You have no facts.

Your facts are as solid as the guys claiming they get 2mpg better with a K&N drop-in, or that they get 2 mpg better running 93 octane in their 2.7L.
