Extang Solid Fold 2.0 for Toyota Tacoma (5ft)

I hate to say this but their product is not as good as it used to be when the panels were aluminum.I bought this product because of how good it was on my Dodge truck.Bought my tacoma May 17 2016. First cover on my 16 Tacoma the top sunk in where the tie downs are located. 2nd cover which was a replacement the top got wavy like so many others the first day it was put on. The 3rd cover ordered was not the right size. I'm done with that product. Going with another product that is aluminum. My review of this product is go with something else.The material being used is not quality material!!! Sorry Extang for this bad review but telling everyone it was a bad batch is getting old. It's been going on for over a year now.

 

I started a warrantee claim through Real Truck.

It is. Just a PITA to have to make a claim. It is perfect for what I wanted. I can keep my KB VOODOO crossbars and basket under it and it didn't cover up the trax system.

 

So Real Truck came back telling me to send the cover to Extang and then they would send me another one. Of course I didn't save the packaging from the cover. I think Extang should send me a new one and I'll send them the old one back. I've got my bed all set up to have a cover. As much as I like the functionality and rigid construction, I'm thinking Extang is not the quality company I want to deal with in the future.

 

I would contact extang directly. They should send you one and if they want the old one back you can send it in that packaging. They sent me replacement panel and didn't ask for the old panel back. I also read of other members on here that have had a complete cover sent and were not asked to return the old cover.

 

Real Truck stepped up and sent me a replacement and I got it installed a few minutes ago. The top sheet is nice and flat.

However, now I have a pretty big gap at the tailgate that I didn't have before. Part of that is because of my Relentless tailgate protector. Anybody solve that? Also, the Extang emblem is clearly crooked.

 

Hopefully this one doesn't get wavy. Man by get some gasket material from home depot

 

Just ordered a piece of Al bar stock, 1"x5/8" to take up the gap between my tailgate cap and the tonneau. Some 3M tape and flat black paint and things should be cleaned up.
