I didn't read much and I know you know your shit Monte. But just in case, did you take into account the 95-96 ecu doesn't know what to do with the sc? I did see your dash apart a few days ago. Were you installing a 97+ ecu?

Yea I know that. Luckily for me I met @BossFoss in lander this weekend and lo and behold he had a wrecked 97. I swapped in the ecu today.

Doesn't the ecu need time to 'learn'/readjust?

    That should be about right.

If you're dying at 3k I would say its from pinging or bad knock sensors.

I would scope your cylinders for carbon build up (or just chuck a bunch of seafoam in it), check your injectors to make sure you're not leaning out (you have a wideband installed yet?) or getting bad atomization from carbon build up, and replace those knock sensors.

FYI, IIRC, the earlier 5VZ had the PN23250-62030 injectors (blue/green) with two atomizing holes. The later model 5VZ had the 23250-62040 injectors (brown) with four holes. I don't think power increased but IIRC, the cleaning of the valves was a little better with the newer injectors.

You can find a set of reman brown injectors on ebay for ~ $120.

Motor was totally fine before. Doubt it was carbon build up. That would be serious build up. I sea foamed it a while ago. Not that many miles on it and I rod it way to much for carbon to build up too bad ha.

Went shopping for the SU1075 knock sensor. None in town or remotely close. Be a special order. I also found my old supra knock sensor wires I had made with better cable. They appear to be the right end so that may work out.

I don't have a wide band yet. My dad took my AEM for his truck ha and I was going to use his lc2 for the time being but can't find it. So that's great..

Did find his R4 disk so going to hook up to the aic and see what's going on.

But first. Rotate tires and try and fix 4wd.

Yeah, I'd not push the boost until you get a wideband to make sure you're not leaning out. Good luck with everything; always something, right?

    Can't really not..3200rpm for 75 mph haha

I doubt it's leaning out. What the 7th injector is for. And it makes no noise like pinging far as I can tell. But who knows.

    :goingcrazy: wooooooo 4wd baby!!!

Main relay was not firing. Opened it up. Looks brand new. Hooked it back up. Works like a charm. Either way. I know how to bypass it now if needed on the trail.

Nah. I need a serial cable and my l2 and I can tune it. Probably do it as I go.

Definitely not as plug n play as they say.

Have you tweaked yours? Or is it the preloaded one? I've read the preloaded one isn't great and need tweaked.

Haven't touched it but I get pinging in high gear low rpm so I want to plug it in and adjust it. Marc is going to show me his scan gauge so I might go with one of those so I can see the AFR
