The Ruger deal fell thru...I went ahead and ordered a Howa 1500 Kryptek package from Buds...handled a few and it looks like the scope in the package is hit or miss, but the rifle seemed well built and gets decent reviews

I figure I'll shoot it until the scope dies or I get pissed and then I'll upgrade the glass to something decent

Yeah kind of disappointed, but cant blame the guy...his son wanted it and offered the original $800 he was asking...I'd rather it stay in the family too...I always ask my folks first before selling a gun

Damn, sucks for you but good on the guy (and his son). It's always good to keep it in the family, my Dad recently mentioned he was thinking about selling his M1A, and he said my brother and I get first dibs if he does :D

Buy it and don't look back if you can afford it

This is what I ended up buying to start me out

M1A is an experience. It is still my hands down favorite firearm I've ever owned.

That looks like a sweet setup! Does it come with the bipod included, or is that a front rail section for mounting one?

Love the Typhon pattern! I have a couple hats in that pattern that get worn regularly

    I'll be honest...I don't know...i handled the gun at Sportsman's Warehouse...it had no bipod or rail installed...Howa's page says it's included...several other places say it's included...Bud's where I ordered doesn't mention it...

I'm not concerned as they're pretty easy to find if I need it

If it's a package that you've seen on multiple independent places it's probably a Howa package and not a store package

It is in fact a Howa package...but I stand corrected...the Howa page doesn't list it, but several other places and reviews have said it was in the box
